anyone have a sink on their patio?

upgrading my patio and im doing a built in grill and drawer. on the other side I can either do straight countertops with more underneath storage or a sink in the middle.
im still undecided if I need it or not. the only problem is I don't have a direct water line behind it. ive had people tell me they can use the main sprinkler line which is above my head.
all I need is one temperature and it would just be for washing my hands. I just have no clue where the runoff would go once it goes down the drain.
any recommendations?

This is what we did to our summer home.

Hot and cold sink on the patio connected to the plumbing system. Very convenient.

I put a cold water only sink in with a catch basin so avoided tapping into main water line. Ran it off a local hose bib. It's used for washing hands and filling the dog bowl and washing stuff off and rinsing. Works good for what I need

I had to run a line for the sink drain from the outdoor kitchen and tap into the main sewer drain out for the house during the initial construction phase. All plumbing is underground covered by travertine decking.
The water line was tapped off the main line at the water meter.

No chance ur kitchen sink is near is there?....I tapped into mine. Easy and works well. Built a 10 foot long countertop with storage under.

So back to my post. Has anyone ever heard of running a sink through the sprinkler line?

i made a patio upgrade this past year. Decided to save on the expense and hassle of a sink and gain countertop space.
I haven't once been in need of a sink.

I ran the number on putting in a separate meter for sprinklers.,would pay for itself in 6 years. Got divorced after 5. FML

If your house isnt that old and you can find a clean out for the sewer, you can put a male adapter to the clean out and tie onto the sewer. There is usually one behind the kitchen sink and behind at least one of the bathrooms.
There are several ways to tie onto a water line. any way you do it, you can put a small instant hot water heater under the sink for hot water. You will need electricity for this though.

If your patio is near your main drain line, that would be an easy tie-in. Otherwise, you could make your own drain field for it. I doubt you'd ever run enough water down it to fill 12, or so, feet of drain line before it could be absorbed. Just be sure to put a good pit of gravel in it. I ran 20 feet of that for the wife's washing machine. Never backed up.
