Not necessarily. My spaniel was afraid of storms when she was inside the house and would try to hide in the back of the house. If she was outside she would run in the yard and bark at the storm.
She never chewed on anything but the bones we gave her.

Why not? Kids love puppies.
I dislike kids
I hate seeing how really young children treat animals.
Doesn't matter to OP, though, so I don't care either way. That's why I said "while we're going down this road".

Can someone tell me why rope act as if shelter dogs are more entitled to a good home then a dog you have to buy?
I understand some people are against breeding, but it's not the dogs fault. They need good homes too.

Have you ever seen how puppies treat older dogs?

When my dog was younger she kicked big dogs asses at the dog park.
Fiesty little thing.
Fiesty little thing.

This is true. It can even hurt dogs in the process. But it's supply/demand.
If people weren't purchasing dogs from breeders, there wouldn't be money to be made.
FWIW, my dog isn't from a shelter. My BFF's two dogs made a baby.
Just something I've observed.

so I'm not sure the issue is as simple as some would imply.
It's likely not.

I'm sure the idea is that if more people rescue, some breeders will eventually decline to produce so many animals. A decrease in the breeder community is probably a pretty good thing, although such a huge swath of the rescue community are undesirable breeds, so I'm not sure the issue is as simple as some would imply.

Human children can seriously hurt dogs. Puppies generally aren't seriously hurting their mothers
Either way, OP is getting a Yorkie. So I linked a rescue.
OP: If you choose to buy, check the classifieds.

I have. Multiple. They're so high and mighty though.

There's nothing wrong with breeding dogs. There are people out there who responsibly breed dogs because they believe in the breed and want to preserve it. There's nothing wrong with making a profit. Preserving the breed requires time, resources, and money.

Again, I like dogs, and I hope all the tiny dogs that need rescuing get rescued, I just don't really understand the appeal of the tiny dogs if you can spend your days playing fetch or hiking with a larger one.
I go hiking with my pug all the time. He's done 10 mile hikes with me and will have more energy than our lab does on the same hike. He'll haul arse up a steep, rocky incline looking down at me as if to say "hurry up, you are taking too long"
Yorkie doesn't seem "sturdy" enough for a 4 year old girl IMO.
I would think a 4 year old girl is like the lil girl in Animanaics "I'm gonna love you and squeeze you allll day!"

Just not my thing
Not something I'm going to recommend to people.
I gave my one Yorkie recommendation

Pugs are on the line for me. I'm not going to get one, but they seem more like larger dogs in compact packages. I know several couples with yorkies and chihuahuas, and they're just in a different dog world as the rest of us. The idea of taking the dog to the river/lake/mountains/wooded dog park just is a totally foreign concept for the most part.

If you don't adopt them, they are slaughtered ruthlessly without prejudice and their remains are thrown on kindergarteners who are bad.

Most breeders dont put a shotgun to the back of a dogs head and pull the trigger in a nursery school if the dog isnt sold, also, those dogs are always going to sell, so why not encourage people to save shelter dogs?

In general, veterinarians are taught in school that every pet should be spade or neutered so that the unwanted pet population will decline. The more adoption is promoted the less animals will be in shelters.
The problem is 1. there are good dog breeders out there that are responsible and have very useful breeds but the vilification of all breeders is promoted
2. The poor areas are where the most problematic pet breeding occurs. The old country folk and uneducated just let their dogs run wild and breed unchecked. No matter how much the idea of neutering pets is promoted there will always be a sector that does not care.
