Fwiw, I read the texts as AP was trying to spank/whip the kid and the kid hit his own head trying to avoid the whipping.

Possibly, but the setting alone is fricked up. AD is hitting a child that is in a car seat, causing a scene that results in a child having a permanent scar on his head.

Did AP cross the line, I do not know.

Painfully obvious he has multiple times.

I do know that as a society we need to protect our children from abusive parents. However, an arse whipping, one that made it painful to sit for days is not abuse. If it happens all the time and for no cause, then I agree it is not disciple, but abuse.

Wow.

quote:

I was spanked, and have spanked my kids. My oldest more than the others. Even as a teen he laughs when talking about "trips to the barn". He knew he had it coming and still knows I did it because I love him.

I'm going to smack you because I love you. What did you do when he made you proud? Pop him in the jaw?

Many are wanting to use this as an argument against discipline and yet it is this very lack of discipline in many homes that is responsible for many of the ills in our country.

I sincerely hope we build a time machine, so you old fricks can travel back in time to see how shitty your society was.

It is clear AP doesn't have the best parental boundaries. I was just clarifying what I thought the texts said because it sounded like people thought he hit the kid in the head.

I think AP clearly crossed the line into abuse with regard to the switch beating, but I understand why he unfortunately didn't know better. He is learning a much needed lesson.

well thats good.

Should we allow violent criminals to avoid punishment if they learned a lesson, or at least say they did?

This.

The old days were so much better. We used to have two water fountains and four restrooms everywhere we went. Kids would go out and play in the streets all day instead of playing on their pocket computers

I'll answer no, but I'm not sure what you are getting at or what it has to do with my post.

TMZ reports Adrian Peterson has already been cleared of the latest child abuse accusation involving one of his other sons. Peterson was accused of hitting one of his other sons, a four-year-old, in the forehead and leaving him with a scar after disciplining him for cursing at a sibling. A source said the case went nowhere because it was determined the boy was injured when he accidentally hit his head on a carseat while Peterson was punishing him. Peterson's form of discipline was "not impermissible." In Texas, parents are allowed to administer "reasonable punishment."

This dude is like the Shawn Kemp of the NFL. He may be rivaling Cromartie for most kids out of wedlock.

Part of me wonders whether AP has so little contact with these kids, on account of him having so many kids with so many women, that he doesn't really his a shite about hitting them or how intimidated they are of him.

He only has a few weeks every summer to instill discipline and christian principles as a part time dad to all those kids in his flock.
