Averaging 4.3 yards per carry, the Tigers have run the ball more times (157) than all but six other teams in the Football Bowl Subdivision. They’re running almost three times more often than they’re passing — a 73/27 split that, for now, is the biggest differential in coach Les Miles’ 10 years at the school.
Wow...

It's always 1975 to Les.

To be fair last week screws influences those stats pretty significantly

Northern Illinois (201)
Air Force (189)
Navy (183)
Washington (163)
Pittsburgh (161)
BYU (158)
But we're 38th in rushing yards per game.

I really don't understand why everyone bitches over play-calling. Number one i promise you that not a single person on the staff gives two shits what message board posters think. Number two, its working. Were ranked 8 in the country and are undefeated. What else do you people want? One thing every team that has won the national championship has had in common is a great D and thats what our game plans surround. We have no reason to force passes when we have the best D in the SEC. You play field position, take chances when opportunities are given, and control the clock.

We have not played any SEC teams yet

If it ain't broke, don't fix it. LSU wins with this style of play.

Anyone that thought we would throw it this year is an idiot anyway. The way to success this season was to run it and be solid on d and special teams.

What exactly would make you happy at this juncture?
We set a NCAA record for most underclassmen checking out for the big payday, we haven't given up a point in 10 quarters, and you find something to bitch about.
Perhaps with so many freshmen, a run leaning offense is the best approach. Showing off a stud defense is boring to you?
19 year old young men get their feet wet, a little chemistry develops, and we take it from there.
Enjoy the moment, appreciate the quality ( and youth ) of the young men we have.

I believe this is what most expected with our young qb and all. I have been pleasantly surprised with our passing game and I am looking forward to seeing more of it as games go forward.

New QB and four stud running backs. No shite Sherlock we run the bal alot.
Posted on 9/15/14 at 5:54 am to CalTiger53
Id be more likely to complain if we threw 40 times
Posted on 9/15/14 at 6:02 am to CalTiger53
Would you rather throw the ball 40 times a game like the Saints? Oh, they are 0 and 2 right now.

Your confidence is admirable. However, LSU is far from "Great" on defense.

Yes, because we have one of the best "in game" coaches in the country who knows clock management(sarcasm).
A team should have a more even split between run and pass.
Lets just hold off on judgment until they play some good teams.

And loses with it when forced to adjust but cannot.

We don't have four stud running backs. We don't have an O-line that will be able to dominate SEC (or Sunbelt, evidently) defenses.
If we don't balance the offense we will lose SEC games in consequence. We probably would lose games anyway, but if we are going to lose we should do it after throwing everything we have at the opponent.
