My point is that the only reason we aren't in the top three is the preseason polls.

Oh, that's your point, cool, thanks for the interesting perspective

Not since Nam in 1970.

Sorry, I'm not impressed by wins over SHSU & LM.

You more impressed that Bama's struggled with WV? That Okie couldn't dominate UT at home? That FSU has...done nothing well... ?

Considering FSU, Oregon, Oklahoma, Bama, Auburn and ole miss may be better than us in 18 out of 22 positions, I would Say they are all better.

COT,I agree with you that it's not that impressive to beat up on SHST and ULM. But with the question asking about who looks better than us, it doesn't matter what we think about playing ULM and SHST. We also played Wiscy, btw.

But against SHST and ULM, our DEFENSE has looked heads and shoulders better than any team mentioned in this thread. Bama gave up four scores, albeit FGs, to USM. MSU shut them out and USM has won 2 games in over 2 years. Less than a win per YEAR. That they scored at all is laughable. I can tell you, living right here amongst the USM fans, they were ecstatic to score double digits against Alabama. LSU would shut them out with ease, based on what we've shown.

I do think Bama has looked better than LSU offensively, but hey...I'm a defense guy, and I think our defense will keep us in every game. Hopefully the young offensive skill guys can improve quickly. We'll need them too.

First game of season. Won by 10. Let's see what they do against the Gators this weekend. They could win big.

They won by 24.

They are 2 & 0 including a win against Okie St.

The only team with a legitimate argument is FSU, but I know LSU would still beat them by at least 10.

You can't complain about preseason rankings screwing LSU, then talk about how Oregon hasn't beaten anyone. Yeah, they have. They beat a better team than we've played, and they did so convincingly. So what they've actually done THIS season dictates Oregon deserves their ranking more than Bama for sure. For that matter, that AU is ranked below Bama is laughable. That Arky win is looking better and better all the time.

Secondary yes. DL & LB's, I think the jury is still out. Let's see how they perform in SEC play.

I live in Hattiesburg. I concur. No hope for USM though. They're probably the worst team in division 1.

Other teams start freshman QBs who look better than our junior and seniors. Our QBs look like they've never played a down of high level football and are scared to make a mistake.

Tell me the truth, COT. Do you know anything about ULM? Or do you just assume they're terrible? They're actually a pretty high powered offense, and LSU held them to 93 yards. Holding ANYONE under 100 yds of offense is unheard of. It's more than the secondary that did that. The DL showed big time improvement last night. Lacouture played very well, along with Rasco. And we did it without the services of our best LB. Beckwith also seemed to play well last night.

The defense is very good.

The defense looked very good, the offense looked handcuffed.

Eh. This is tough. Had to think about it. I'm more defensive minded. But I would rather have major questions on defense. I feel like you can hide that easier through zones and different personnel and schemes.

You can't win a game without scoring. Maybe you can just score more than then. Baylor WVU come to mind. 70-68. Not even sure they let the defense on the field for that game.
