So what are we talking about? I support most feminism up to and including The Feminist Mystique (60s-70s). Pretty much everything since then sucks. I must warn you, I took a freshman level writing class a decade ago at Penn entitled "Gender across Cultures" and the prof was a 300 lb feminist lesbian, so I have a little understanding about the subject.

So what are we talking about?
Not thinking women are inferior.
I bet 90% of the women in Harvard Law School self-identify as feminists.

I feel like most here agree with those principles. Everyone should be equal.
The problem arises (as it does with most things) when the vocal/nasty minority have a louder voice than the rational. People see the SJW/Facebook activists/tumblrinas and don't hear much from the rational side.
Like most worthwhile movements, it has been hijacked by extremists.

Yep. The movement was a clear struggle for equal rights and opportunity. It was based in humanism. There was a democratic ideal to it. It aimed for a cultural shift to the basic idea you suggested: women and men are equal and can do the same things within reason. And despite your misgivings about conservative Republitards* they largely share this same ideal. Second wave feminism has pretty much succeeded.
Since then, it has completely gone off the rails. From at least the 90s onward it is not longer based in any humanistic and democratic ideals. It is based in sociological and anthropological theory. It doesn't aim to change the law, it aims to only shift the culture, man's historical role as dominant. There's no clear way to go about this of course and no clear law to change without trampling on people's rights. And it all varies from feminist to feminist because at the end of the day it's just philosophy. It's just a lot of what I call "sociological bitching."
*ETA: I meant to reply to Tigah

Change "Feminists" to "udtiger" and the answer is unequivocally "YES!".

Mostly true
I would venture to guess that most are gay, rather than bi.
Pretty much all of them are large.

I'm not sure how that makes me a "dumbass", nor do I really care to be honest.

western culture so-called "feminists" don't even condemn Islamic oppression of women - and one can say that the majority of Muslims don't condone violence, but certainly a much larger percent, if not a majority of Muslims, condone the oppression of women
liberals/progressives and their poser representatives on the PT board are all too lame to condemn the oppression of women by Muslims
the claim by liberals/progressives that Conservatives have a war against women and that liberals/progressives are looking out for and are the defenders of true "feminism" lacks any credence whatsoever
