I won't know what I think of this team until after Miss. State.

I won't argue a word that you've said there bro. I will only say that we all agreed that Wiscy was going to give us hell for three qtrs and LSU would pull it out. That is pretty much what happened. Instead of focusing on their lacking performance in the first half, I just put more emphasis on the team coming together in such a big way and in the midst of adversity on a big stage for their very first win of the season.

There are a whole lot of question marks in my mind as well but one thing that I do have faith in is that for every question mark there is a good answer that is realistic. For instance, poor MLB play can lead to a younger MLB getting the spot and adding athleticism to a very important position.

To me, the biggest issue that the staff will be responsible for managing is to make sure that the growing pains do not cost them a game. For example, that MLB spot being taken care of before a loss where the current starter has problems. That guy might not have a totally wretched game but a stronger performance from a stronger player could end up changing that loss into a win. That isn't the only position that could be improved so don't think that I am riding any one player (that I do happen to defend more often that not).

Bottom line is that I see that the talent can come together in time to make that big run. It will be more important for the staff to manage those growing pains in a way that won't cost the team. I have been boasting that this staff is tops in the nation so now I guess that it's time to sit back and enjoy their uberalphacity.

This offense is very promising, should get better as they gel together. So I think we'll be "in" every game we play, but will lose 2 - 3 based on our youth.

Agree. And I don't think a cardiologist will need to be on the sidelines Saturday night.

11-2. We lose at Auburn but win the west then lose to undefeated UGA in the SEC title.

End up boned and going to cotton bowl as Auburn or Bama goes to the Sugar
The Sugar Bowl is a playoff semi-final game this year. If we end up winning the west at 11-2 with a loss to Auburn, then Bama is at best 11-2 and Auburn is at best 9-3. Do you think either of them will make the 4 team field with a record like that without even winning their division?

Actually you saw a glimpse when we struggled with a mediocre Wisconsin team.
I don't know that we saw so much growing pains as we did adjustments. Wisconsin came in flat out committing to stop the run and they largely did. When we adjusted to it, we took advantage and burned them deep with excellent execution from our young skill players. Once they had to back out of the box a bit, the line and RBs were able to assert themselves and we took over the game.

As for the defense, with as much racket as I've heard about Wisconsin losing two of the DL for part of the game, I'm surprised more hasn't been made about our four DTs that didn't play at all in that game (at least one suspended who is now back), and the fifth one that was starting with an injury (Q. Thomas). We have more depth (at least one more body that was not available for that game) at that key position, and that position won the day overall in that game anyway.

It is possible that tougher teams may prove problematic for us. But I have not seen anything yet that convinces me we should expect to lose to anyone due to our "growing pains".

Intermediate passes seem to be missing. Situations like 3rd and 8, we are throwing the ball 30 yards down field rather than just moving the chains. Maybe the intermediate passing is good and they aren't breaking it out until it's needed, I don't know.

Noticed that too.. not only intermediate, but very few short passes...need to practice them...teams like Bama may not give us the time to throw real deep ones. Short and Mid also provide a way to keep rushing pressure off

Loved the comeback, but I never expected getting dominated by Wisky for a half. Until I see LSU perform well vs similar talent level, the jury is still in deliberation. I guess that can be said for the rest of the SEC, sans maybe UGA /aTm.
This weeks result in Columbia will be interesting and give a more clear picture of East/West.

I need to see more than a half against a Big 10 team and a scrimmage against a FCS school to assess this teams potential for 2014.

10-2 Losses to either Auburn or FL and Bama or A&M

Either a tie or three way tie for SEC West with LSU getting in the SEC title game.

Having said that if we only lose one of Aub/Fl and beat Bama I see 11-1
