I have gotten to the point where I prefer self check out because the lines are shorter. Also, the check out person doesn't touch my items.

Self checkout can be a nightmare with idiots and geriatrics not knowing what is going on, coupon ladies doing their thing, and machine malfunctions.

Self checkouts can be just as frustrating if you have to wait for people who don't know how to use it or have a buggie full of stuff.
The worst self checkouts are at Lowes. Those things never work right.

I buy groceries for like 1.5 weeks at a time. I don't spend 8 hours a day checking out so it would take me a ton of time to do self checkout. Stay away from Walmart and other stores that hire people who couldn't care less about you and you won't really have to wait much. I've never been farther than 2nd in line at Whole Foods or Callandro's.
