do they ever fly or do any kind of surveys around NWLA area?

Not in September, but in November, December, and January, we do a 1-day survey of selected habitats in NW LA. See paragraph 6 of the COMMENTS section of the document at: LINK

Last week I saw a lot of birds just north of BR. Same spot yesterday, I didn't see any. Hope they didn't already head to Mexico.

Don't worry, the birds we are seeing are almost all adult males (the first bluewings to migrate), and as of yesterday, the Dakotas were still ate-up with bluewings. So not only haven't they passed through, according to my colleague in North Dakota, they aren't showing any obvious signs of wanting to leave there.

Is it too late to drop my classes and go with Wick and the crew?

Hey Larry, it was great seeing you at the fish fry the other night. Amazing how big our boys have gotten.

You're good people, no surprise you'd be in here keeping us posted first hand. Thanks!
