Poor guy never had a chance, killed on impact.
Warning: Link contains disturbing video of the accident from the motorcyclist's perspective.
Lesson here:
Guys on bikes, slow down. Guys in cars, pay closer attention.

Shouldn't that say warning you're about to watch a person die a brutal death?

The dude was doing 90. No way that car could've reacted fast enough with him travelling that fast. No matter how close he was paying attention.

Everyone was driving on the wrong side of the road. That's a recipe for disaster.

In April this year, Benjamin Austin, the driver of the Renault car that struck Mr Holmes, pleaded guilty to causing a death by careless driving.
He was subsequently ordered to perform 130 hours of unpaid work. His driving licence was also suspended for 18 months.
The court heard Austin admitted he had not seen Mr Holmes before making the turn.
In passing sentence, Judge Veits said no one had suggested Austin had been driving dangerously, but he had made a mistake that 'sadly' too many other drivers also make, of 'simply' not seeing the motorcycle.
Seems a bit excessive considering the speed of the bike and even the judge admitting that it was an accident and not dangerous driving.

I didn't read the whole article, but I remember the LiveLeak description noting that the car was in the wrong. Can someone explain how?

She said that the driver - who has since admitted causing death by careless driving - did not see the motorcyclist,
So the driver is admitting wrong doing? I don't think he was in the wrong at all.

Gotta love the mom's comment telling car drivers to please slow down. WTF? Motorcycles are a lot smaller than cars. They are physically more difficult to see. They offer virtually no protection in the event of an accident....But, car drivers need to slow down. Yeh, we should also probably all wear bullet proof vests so that criminals will have less chance of killing us with a gun. Maybe we should limit the height of buildings and bridges so that dumbass who fall off of them won't die.
Mom goes on to say "I know he was going fast, but he loved speed..." I guess that makes it alright then, right? Not his fault because he just loved going fast.
I see crap like this guy almost everyday going to and from work. Cyclists weaving between traffic, even cars side by side and on the shoulder. Then when one dies, there will be a group of idiots out there putting flowers and crosses out and begging people to watch out for motorcycles...What they should be saying is watch out for fricking idiots who happen to drive motorcycles. And no, I am not saying all who ride them are idiots, but a small percentage are and I don't feel sorry for what happens to them.

I'm sorry, I just cant find it in me to assign any guilt to the car driver. Sure, you're always supposed to yield, so technically he failed to do that. But speed limits serve several purposes.
You go 100 MPH you are completely fricking up the physical assumptions every driver is required to make in order to operate these substantial machines. It's incredibly selfish and quite frankly it should be considered a total-fault factor

Some people just hate you Darth, even on the rare occasion you're being reasonable

As someone who has done stupid things on a sportbike, that was 100% the guy on the bike's fault. The car sees him at a distance and does not assume that he is doing nearly 100 mph and expects to have time to make the turn. The guy on the bike should see that car well enough ahead of time, but he's traveling too fast to avoid it (though even at that speed, I think he had a decent chance of avoiding it). I've seen this video presented as a message to car drivers to be more attentive to bikes. This is a damn poor example for that cause, because the car driver is not in any way at fault here.

I don't think the driver of the car should have been charged with anything

This is what track racing is for. Motorcycle loses every time.

I'm just glad the driver wasn't killed. He could've killed someone else besides himself.
