Wilson is a solid qb, he will get his $20mill/season one way or another.

I disagree. If they get away with just $20 million on a long term contract, it is a steal.

Yeah that guy must not be paying attention to QB contacts.

Too risky to let him walk. He is a top 10 QB.

Yeah it's funny seeing people get outrage by all these QB contacts. The reality is that it's fricking hard to find one that's decent, as a result teams just open their pockets.

might have to seriously consider letting wilson walk when he asks for 20+

I think they eventually cut Lynch (not sure how his contract is set up ) which will help absorb the blow of paying Wilson. I think he gets a little over 15, not 20.

I'm trying to figure out why this board hates the Seahawks so much. Is it just Pete Carroll? The fact that they beat the Saints? Is it because that "thug" from Stanford said he was better than PP7? All of the above?

For the entire length of the contract yes, but I thought people were insinuating $20 mil per year, not 20 million total.

I was insinuating $20 million per year. That would be a bargain for them if they can lock him up for 5-6 years at that price.

Sounds crazy, but with the way everyone touts him, I can see Seattle doing something stupid like that.

Why would that be stupid? That is the going rate for good QBs. He has the potential to be elite

Wut?

Wilson will get paid. He's better than most qb's making big bucks. (Kaepernick, Ryan, E Manning etc). He's extremely young and has only gotten better.

Wilson is as good as the media believes once he commands and gets that 20+MM contract next year.

Wilson is the one guy i could see taking significantly less $$ for the "sake of the team"

You think Wilson will average less than Alex Smith?

Seattle will get hit by Wilson's contract. After that point they're spending 30m just for Wilson and Harvin and what like 15m each on Thomas and Sherman. You can't spend 60m on 4 players and still be deep all over.

might as well just pay all quarterbacks $20+ mil. I'm still blown away by Andy Dalton's deal.

No. He's like 5ft2. He needs money to impress the ladies. Also, his agent tried to renegotiate Wilson's deal after his rookie year, despite the CBA making this impossible. Now he has a ring. He's also known for his community work. Some were calling him an outsider for MVP last year- I mean really, best D, biggest home advantage and a top 3 RB and people still thought he might be more valuable than Manning or Rodgers. Dude is gonna get paid.

Everyone gets "blown away" by the total he can make. But from what I understand, it's essentially a 2 or 3 year guaranteed deal, then year to year.
