The Mandeville, Madisonville and Covingtown "downtown" night life is awesome. Find me at the Tap Room, Old Rail Brewing Company or Barley Oak any weekend!

The best bar on the northshore is the Red Barn Pub in Mandeville

I haven't ever called it the Red Barn Pub. Always just been the pub in Mandeville or the pub in Covington. Last time I was there, they ran out of Jack, so I just brought in the handle from my truck and had them charge me $3 for each coke I bought to mix it with. Worked like a charm

It is pretty boring. I find Covington to be a little less boring than Mandeville, though. But, it's a really nice place to raise a family. We're close to the city so if we want to do something exciting, we can. But, we don't have to worry about the crime or any of the less than ideal things about living in NO. If I could, I'd live across the lake. But, I can't and this is a pretty nice place to be stuck.

I would take the Covington/Mandeville suburb life over any of the hell holes that surround Baton Rouge.

Seriously, why can't places like Denham, Gonzalez, Brusly, etc have good restaurants?

To those who say Covington is so boring, what is it that makes it boring? What are y'all looking for? Bc "boring" seems to be an automated OT response to any inquiry about any suburb and most cities.

it's not that Covington or wherever is boring, it's that the city is an hour away... you actually have to plan to spend a day in the Quarter or go to a Saints game

The people who choose to live in these areas aren't that worried about the above stuff.

It's not like we want to go do those things every weekend. We have other things on our lists of priorities.

It's a small suburb. That's the main reason why. There is only a handful of decent bars and restaurants there. It has a population of less than 10,000.

I'm looking to live in a real city. One with numerous bars and restaurants. One with a population over 200,000...at least. Look at how many events New Orleans has in an average month, now compare that to Covington. Mardi Gras in New Orleans alone crushes everything Covington has to offer.

Ask people who have never been to Louisiana to name one city in the state. Nearly all of them will say New Orleans. I doubt even one could name Covington. Again, I'm looking to live in a real city, not a suburb. Covington is nothing but a suburb and it's very boring compared to New Orleans.
