I checked my cable guide and the first episode is showing up on the 8th at 8 pm (EST) and on the rest of the week at the same time. Supposedly it's being remastered/rebroadcasted in HD.

I watched the wire and at the risk of posting an unpopular opinion, I did not really think it was great.

The wire and breaking bad maybe the most overrated series of all time feeding lame conservative stereotypes on the war on drugs. Yawn.

That was an unintended no message. Sorry.

Lurker admin team research shows that those two tv series may be responsible for the most bad decisions in lower to middle white america since 8 mile.

The shows themself are built upon stereotypes. The basic premise of the wire perpetuates the myth that black successfull people will ultimately turn on each other. BB basic stereotypes of the mexican drug cartel is almost offensive as the complete assault on women via the Skylar character. Starsky and Hutch was more creative.

i liked Season 2 of The Wire a lot more than anyone else on this board.
not the least bit surprised.

I found The Wire and Breaking Bad to each be shallow and pedantic.

You are certainly entitled to your opininion. The docks and drugs themes were done to exhaustion in the 70s when i suspect you were not born or a wee bitty tot.

The entire cop show genre is littered with shallow stereotypes. The Mcnultey character has been done by much more skilled writers.

What the frick did he do?

Very little in my opinion. Corny skank banging maverick cop. Couldn't really hold Ponce's jock.

I see this is the thread for aging hipsters to criticize popular shows. Carry on.

its a good show, its just pathetic when a middle age white man comes on here proclaiming how real and authentic it was.
its a good show with entertaining characters, but it isnt a glimpse into urban black culture like some would like to believe.

You do realize that the people who created and made the show were writers and cops in Baltimore, right? And most of the characters on the show were based on real, actual people.
"Middle aged white men" aren't the only ones who praised the show for its realism...almost everybody did.
