I posted this in the Morning Glory police activity thread but it is worth it's own discussion.
A Baton Rouge police officer who stopped a driver for suspected drunken driving early Sunday shot and wounded the motorist after he tried to disarm the officer, police said.
The shooting happened just after 1 a.m. in the 3200 block of Morning Glory Avenue, Cpl. Don Coppola Jr. said in a news release.
The wounded man, whose name was not released, is in critical condition at a local hospital, Coppola said.
The release says the officer tried to arrest the 27-year-old man for suspicion of driving while intoxicated.
“The suspect resisted arrest and a physical altercation ensued against the officer,” the release says. “The suspect then attempted to disarm the officer of his duty weapon while also threatening his life. The officer, while fearing for his life, was able to draw his weapon and fired multiple shots which struck the suspect incapacitating him.”

If he truly decided to attempt to disarm him, and it was a struggle, he elevated the situation and the cop had to respond.

Dog shooting joke? check
Childish group thinking about disliking cops? check
Assuming the worst about the police and the best of criminals without any evidence? check
It looks like all of mandatory the bases are covered for a cop thread.

I lived near this location and once was pulled over for " rolling " a 4 way stop sign at 11 pm. It was a bad experience because I was honest and was hauled off to blow a .03. Considering I lived around the corner I realized the cop was running defacto checkpoint... I'll be curious to see if it's the same cop. He was an absolute jerk on mulitple fronts.

I hope there is good video & audio of this. Hopefully they will release it along with his blook alcohol content. That's the only way we'll know if this cop was full of dhit or not. I am to the point where i really dont believe any statement from cops in br. Cops in that area will pull you over for not leaving your blinker on long enough so they can hopefully get you for a dwi. I wouldnt doubt it if something like that is why the guy got pulled over.
