Diarse blocking in similar to JL. This works all the time yet we continue to go heavy to start games.
I know Les is trying to limit TOs but you can still play conservative and still create mismatches with ur personnel.

Our WRs vs extra DBs is a much better mismatch in the running game then TEs vs extra DL/LBs. This happens every game yet we always go back to "heavy" sets to start the ball game.
yep. it's nuts. if our WR's are beating their DB's that easily. we should run out of 3 or 4 wide all night from the gun. force them to take guys out the box or bring down safetys on the edge for help. when they do pound them into submission. good thing is we did pound against nickel sets.

yeah i would rather have 2 TEs or a big blocking WR blocking than a short, slow FB who can't do anything else (except one of the 4 plays all year when the other D shows they respect him slightly less than 0 and leaves him open by 35 yards)
there is a reason elite college offenses and teh NFL does not use those types of players anymore

Don't forget this one... Les and Chavis still have to wait to half time to make adjustments.
Do you know anything about football? Majority of teams do this. How games are won.

back when les took over in 2005, it was excusable that he didn't know about/believe in the ability to run from 4 WR sets
in 2014, there is no excuse. that is the dominant style of offense in CFB. it has been proven for 15+ years that it's possible

you can wear out a big front 7 with horizontal stretches then go north south out of 3 and 4 wide all night. especially with a hurry up offense.

Tough to run up the middle with 9 guys waiting for you. They did great when we went 3 wide
I think I said this word for word about 200 times last night. Ditch the full back, bring in an extra wide out. Spread em out just a little bit. Thins out the box on running plays and gives you more options on passing plays. We did this more in the 4th qtr.

Offensive line very confused with Wisconsin DL stunts.
Hilliard was the best running back out there. Ran fast and with authority.
TEs choked in the clutch
Right now Diarse and Hilliard need to be on that field.
Until Les gets out of the 70s offense every game gonna be a dog fight. We will see better DLs then Wisconsin.
Could be the worst DL at LSU in some time. They were killed last night.
Still no tempo/rhythm with either QB. Hopefully this will change.

I'll say that last night will likely be the best run defense they see all year.
You are very, very wrong.

but running an offense with an extremely limited FB
Posted on 8/31/14 at 9:14 am to Skillet
one drop because he fell in a patch of open grass, one horrific fumble and another drop on one that needs to be pulled in by a good tightend, also had our 285 tightend fail to pass protect or run block well. I guess it could have just been a bad game but they looked bad and should feel bad

LSU needs to park Neighbors. If they are determined to use a FB then put Dickson or one on the RBs there bc they at least need to be accounted for my the defense.

He is not a threat to make a play so whoever is supposed to cover him can make plays elsewhere.

#89 Smith CAN NOT drop a pass like that on 3rd down....& Quinn did some nice blocking down field. Lets hope that never wears off

This is embarrassingly wrong.

LF underwhelming but we know will shine
I'm not sure he was underwhelming. It seems that it would be difficult to be effective when he gets 8 touches on 8 appearances in the game and everyone on the field knows he's getting the ball. I don't profess to be a football expert, but how good could superman be if all 11 defenders know when he's getting the ball?

I learned that LSU's last two classes have been elite.

How is he limited?
he's short, slow, and not explosive
he'll make the occasional catch when he's open by 15 yards, but that just means you see how much respect the D has for him
which proves my point (that having him as a base offensive player means we're playing 10 on 11)

Sorry Mr. Neighbors.

You run it up the middle a lot in the first half and wear those DL out. Wave after wave of it... IF you can stay in the game. Once we got in the second half, we showed 'em different looks, wore them down and had 4 scoring drives.
Who we is.
Who we is.
