This is why we need more than 4 teams for playoff

1- South Carolina NC hope is most likely over and the rest of regular season games could me meaningless specially if they lose another early.
2- SEC West seems to be loaded and there is no chance 2 teams or more are selected from SEC west.
3- TAM/SC game shows how wrong the experts could be and the final 4 teams are selected by those experts.

We have a 64 team BB tourney. Right after the selection show the talking heads whine and complain about who didnt get in. Moving from a 2 team playoff to a 4 team playoff solves what?
There will be more media crap than ever because of this. A 9 member selection panel "Are you serious"
Dis gonna be guud.

I agree with the OP, but 16 would be awful IMO.
Personally I wouldn't mind top 4 playoff with the top 4 decided by the BCS. I'd be most pleased with top 6 decided by BCS. The committee is NOT going to put two deserving SEC teams in the top 4 barring a situation like 2011 when there is literally no other option available. However, I do see them leaving SEC out with a two loss SEC champ who ran a gauntlet schedule. Oh well, it's the system we've got now.

Eliminate bowl games. Top 8 seeds get home field advantage.
Or use BCS formula for the current system

Dude it's completely different predicting the first game of a brand new season with a completely differnt team basically than it is at the end of season picking who goes to playoffs. Geez everybody is overreacting after this game. It isn't even an LSU game. Oh god

1. SC could win the rest if their games and get to the playoff. They may could even lose another one as long as they won the conference.
2. We spend all season with the western division playing a round robin and additional conference games. Think of the regular season conference games as a tournament because they really are. There is no need to have two teams from a conference much less two teams from a division. With the limited number of games compared to the pool of teams conference champions/regular season should be good enough to eliminate the peers in their conference.
3. It was the first fricking game. It is kind of dumb to make that big of a deal from an opinion with no games played and two solid teams playing each other. I personally would just leave it up to the computers or a panel to pick the top 4 conference champions; however, that would be too fair compared to the new system and the old BCS.

I agree with a 12 team playoff. Top 4 get byes and home games. Then final four are played in bowl locations. Eliminate cupcake games. All games will be against d1 teams or GTFO. Conf. Championship games don't factor into playoff formula.

Well, SC national championship hopes should be over after that performance, that's their own damn fault.

Why are people so against accepting the winner of a conference tournament as the best in a conference yet they call for a playoff for the NC? Why don't we use conference champions to slim down the pool of teams?
Why does it matter if a team is eliminated in a conference championship or by a conference foe during the season instead of using bs subjective criteria to get multiple teams in from a conference.

I would love to see a 16 team playoff, but I would be satisfied with 8. The big 5 conference champs receive automatic bids, a couple of highly ranked bubble teams, and the highest ranked smaller conference team if they finish ranked in the top 8. Something like that should keep everyone happy.

Should be 8 game playoff.

You went through all this shite for sake of disagreeing but don't say what is wrong with more than 4 teams? If we have more than 4 teams does it make your experts opinion? Or SC has less chance of making it to the NC game? Think before you respond.

I was arguing against this the other day. The "experts" you are speaking of are mostly journalism majors who like sports. They work for ESPN, Fox Sports, CBS Sports, etc.
The Selection Committee has a very good variety of people which should allow for a fair and reasonable decision making process when they are choosing the teams at the end of the season.
Also, 2 teams from the West were in the title game recently in case you forgot. 2 would have likely been in the playoff last year as well.

UGA is loaded at WR and they have a ridiculous RB corps. They also have the best LB crew in the nation and return a very solid DL. I think they beat USCe by 10 points now. Before the season, I had UGA winning the East with either UF or USCe in second, but anybody that can throw and has a good offensive line, will be able to beat USCe.
I've been telling people all offseason that they lost way too much to expect to win the East this year. All offseason, I had heard nothing but Davis, Thompson, the offensive line, and their LBs. Davis is a power back and if his rib injury limits his power running again, they better hope Wilds and the speed demon can pick up the slack.

Should NEVER be more than a 4 team playoff. We are fricking with the regular season too much as it is.

Why play the regular season?
It would be just as meaningless as NCAA basketball. Wake me up when the tourney starts.
