Standing side by side with no crow-hop? He can prlly throw it about 55-60 yards. I couldnt do that with no crow-hop. Given 5 yards to step into it and launch it as far as we both could, I would think it wouldnt be difficult to stay within about 10 yards of him. Im bigger than him though.
No, I just meant starting at the same spot.
Regardless of what some posters claim, 50 yards is a loooooooong way when you're holding an NFL football.

I'll be 62 in a month and I can throw a full sized football 40 yds. But not over those mountains.

Played high school quarterback...Was 6'6" 195lbs...Could throw 75 yrds with no wind.
And you only played high school football? With that frame and arm strength, why no college football? Maybe your distance memory is a little hazy?

NFL Football - 30-35 yards
College Football 32-37 yards
HS Football 33.6 - 39.25 yards
Nerf Football - I can put into orbit
Are you guys really unathletic?
These are like middle school numbers.
I could toss a college one 50 yards, 60 if I spin in perfectly. No where near accurate at top distance though. I have always had a good arm though, pitched, played QB growing up, etc. (not great at control though)
Most of the athletic guys in my HS could throw it the same length. These numbers are cracking me up in here.
Im just trying to bring truth to the OT. There's a lot a couple lots down from mine with nothing on it. Its where the neighborhood football games are played. All of the lots are 80'x125' I can throw it across the 80' with ease (27 yrds) going from the other way I cant make it all the way across. Im 37 YO, probably could have done when I was in HS but not now.

I wonder how many of the OTers have actually been on a football field in the past 20 years. 40-50 yards is a long way away for the average person to throw a legit college or NFL ball.

yep, lot of BS up in this thread --which is shocking

I threw my old pigskin out a few years back, biyatch landed back in my house, with half my money.

50-55 was around my max. I have a strong arm but no accuracy at all. Might try throwing a ball some time this week and report back.

Do that. I think people lose concept of what 50 yards is.
Captious Obvious alert: That's standing on the goal line and hitting the tiger in the eye. Sounds awfully long when you word it like that...

Think our HS QB threw it about 55 yards and he had a cannon.

When you think about it in that way, it seems crazy far. I stand by my 15 yards for an accurate throw, and 25 yards if I put all my might into it (I have no throwing strength).
Here's a 50 yard throw... LINK I doubt many people on here can throw this far (maybe a few more if there's no accuracy involved at all).

It's been a long time, but I'm guessing between 35-45, but not accurate at all at that distance.

The flaw in your thought process is obvious.

That one was about 55 yds in the air.

Very far. When I throw a football, the football doesn't travel through the air, time moves around it.

Yeah, it looked more like a punt watching it live. Twas a good night
But just looking at the distance covered... Still pretty dang far.
