Is it really as wide open as the media says?

At this point I think it's Rand but he will have to do it not only without support from the GOP machine, but from a concentrated effort to block him by that group.

The machine will push someone like Graham.

No one, especially if Amnesty is crammed through before 2016.

The Media is right; it is wide open because no one knows what we'll be facing in two years. Hell...ISIS could set off pipe bombs in ten different WalMarts or poison a major water reservoir with a dirty bomb...and Col. Allen West could spring to the top.

Useless to even argue this stuff now.

Hard to say who will emerge by 2024.

How cute. You actually think there are going to be elections.

Unless something major changes, Rick Perry or Scott Walker because both are very successful governors whose policies have produced big results in their states.

Romney may have been right compared to Obama, but history is not on his side for another nomination. The last guy I can think of who got nominated for President right after losing was Adlai Stevenson in the 50s and that was because the Dems had no answer to Ike Eisenhower.

Rehash candidates in general also don't do well, as Nixon, Grover Cleveland, and Andrew Jackson are the major ones I can think of who lost an election and then won again down the road.

The Republicans don't have that issue, as they arguably have the best candidate field in recent history to choose from.

Most realistic chance in 2016, Romney... He has tons of "I told you so moments", he is already a household name from 2012, and the key demographic (young and african american) that came out in droves for the last two elections will not be there for the next.

Having said that, Rand Paul is the best choice for the Republicans.

Mitt Romney. He would garner the most mainstream appeal. The fact that he has been proven right over and over gives him more credibility than our current leader. I wish he would run in 2016.
I said I wouldn't be excited if he ran again a couple of weeks ago but I've changed my mind. I would be very excited to see Mitt run again.

Romney. I would vote for him again. Any objective observer could see that Romney was infinitely more qualified to serve as President compared to Obama or Hillary for that matter.

None of them. Whoever gets the nomination has no chance. If he wins a debate it will be a sign of the Republican "war on women." If he loses a debate he will be seen as weak because be lost to a women. There will be no way to get positive press. The Dems will win and it will have nothing to do with policies.

Hard to say.

I think it's easier to say who has a realistic chance and who doesn't, because it's easy to find strengths and weaknesses among all these candidates:

Those who I think can possibly win:

Jeb Bush, Chris Christie, Bobby Jindal, Rand Paul, Rick Perry (although he's borderline), Rob Portman, Marco Rubio, Paul Ryan, Scott Walker

Those who I think can't:

John Bolton (will be seen as too much of a firebrand), Ben Carson (inexperience), Ted Cruz (firebrand), Rick Santorum (firebrand/has been)

A lot of this is just tone. You can be conservative (i.e. Rubio, Walker), you just can't scare children, like Cruz.

Just ask the Democrats, they really are the only ones who know what is best for the Repubs.

Anybody who has the b---s to stand up to terrorists, increase the defense budget and slam down continued efforts to divide this country along economic, racial, you-name-it lines. And I know you asked about Republicans, but that certainly excludes Billary!
