She saved $5000, I told her I would match it + a little, so we are looking in the $12,000 range.
2007 Nissan Altma with 101,000 miles is priced $12,990 at a Nissan dealership.
2007 BMW 328 with 87,000 miles is priced $12,900 at a small independent dealereship.
Carfax checks out clean on both of them. Am I missing something? We were looking primarily at Altimas and this one came up. Insurance is practically the same. Going to buy this weekend.

Not the Beemer. She'll get in trouble with it.
Go with the Nissan.

damn that's overpriced

Agreed. Not only that, but it is more expensive repair-wise. That is a ton of miles for that much money, though...

Better check out the transmission...

Most likely the Nissan dealership is overpricing it.

That seems high for both of those cars. I wouldn't touch a BMW with that kind of mileage without a good warranty. That thing will spend a lot of time in the shop. I think that Altima is priced pretty high as well. Im selling my 2005 Altima with 150000 miles for $5000 and Ill be lucky to get that I think.

Just on maintenance alone....The Altima. The BMW is not cheap to own plus all the tune ups coming its way. No Honda Civic or Toyota Corolla? Those things can go on forever.

Do NOT buy that BMW.
Look for a used Accord, Camry, Civic, Corolla, maybe Mazda 3. Nothing else.

This is absurdly overpriced. You should be able to find a low mileage late model Camry or Accord in that price range.

Put the $12k down and let her finance another $8k or so. Monthly note will be low, she can build some credit, and she won't have a "new" car with 100k miles on it.

My sister got a '12 with 40K miles for $13K. Pretty standard package though

I'll sell you my 06 acura TL with 108k miles for $12k. Changed the timing belt and water pump at 100k miles.

Typically maintenance on the BMW will be more expensive than your average car. I'll take a close look at the tires and price the replacements anyway so you know what you are getting into.

something seems wrong with the BMW.
Expensive to maintain. German.
I had a VW TOurag. It had about 95,000 miles. Had a major problem with the engine. $4k.
Went out and got a Jeep Grand Cherokee.
