The corolla, assuming no stories, is not bad. It would be light years ahead of the two in the OP.

Once again I'm selling my wife's 2011 VW Jetta with only 76k for only $11,000. That's a better deal than anything that's been posted on here.

No, it's not as good as the Corolla.

Better than the OP, though.

I wouldn't buy either one of those cars. That's absurd. Earlier this year I bough a fully loaded car with 5k miles on it for 20k.

You finance $9,000 out the door and pay a sub $200 note on 4 years.

He didn't want to spend more than $12k.
He doesn't want to finance.
And the best of all he doesn't have to deal with a car salesman.

Do yourself a favor and don't buy either of those.

I don't know where you are located, but Cars.com has never failed me. You can find newer cars, with a lower price tag and lower miles than what you are looking at, all day. Check out this link for example. It's in the Louisiana area, so adjust it to where you are at, and set your radius to about 50 miles or as far as you are willing to travel, and you will find some great cars.

I'm intrigued, but wouldn't the VW have similar maintenance issues (high cost) than the BMW.

The best point made in this thread has been to get her a car that she doesn't have to replace when she graduates from college/won't kill her on maintenance when its her responsibility.

VW's have much lower maintenance cost than BMW. Email me and I'll send you pictures of the car.

This. Buy a Lexus with 200k miles on it. Or a 8 year old Chevy Malibu. Or granpa's old caddy. Something that already has a dent in it. Put a stereo in it for her. With Bluetooth. Ya'll can talk about a better car when she graduates from high school.

I suggest you put up another 3k that puts you in the 15K range and whole new world of better choices

With my girls I looked for something I new was safe and dependable- did not want them stranded

The boys- heck get a truck or jeep they were happy

Are you lazy or just dumb I don't think your either one!
Go to autotrader and shop I just found tons of altimas on there with low miles for way under 12grand yeah yeah. I know you. Want to drive it blah blah kick the tires but people ship cars often
Your daughter prob worked her arse off for that money and I applaud you for doing a great job with teaching her work ethic many kids don't have it all do yourself and her a favor take your time. LINKy to 300 mile search of Baton Rouge
Give me a few hours I can get you a list of nissan employee turned in leases and you can prob get you a hell of a deal.

My wife's 05 or 06 Altima 2.5 grenaded at 105,000 and had several issues before that. I'll never buy another Altima, and probably not any other Nissan.

Just got rid of my wifes 05 altima. I would be very careful especially with that many miles. For the last year we were having issues with the engine and transmission. About 120,000 miles when we traded it. I was told that they were bad about having engine sludge. (Not sure if that is true though)

The peace of mind that comes with a new car warrant is very valuable. Don't rush this and you'll come out alright.
