Well duh. A guy that didn't even play QB full time in college at a third tier Big 10 team is definitely better than anyone we have.

From a raw QB talent and tools perspective tell me how Harris doesn't stack up. I will wait.
Waaay to early to make that comparison. Randle El was a 4-year starter playing in the Big X for a shite team. His college totals:

Passing 7500 yards
Rushing 4000 yards
Combined TD's 87

Wasn't overly accurate as a passer but damn athletic. I'll withhold comparing Harris until he takes a few snaps.

Quinn is probably #5 WR.

You might be right I don't remember. But he had about 270 passing attempts each year for 4 years. Throwing the ball 22 times/game sounds like fulltime starter to me.

I sure would like to have had a 3rd year sophomore running this offense, but only if he had the chest for it.

Like it or not, we are in for some seriously inconsistent qb play. If Harris is even being thought about by our staff, it basically means we are in trouble, IMO. I don't care if he can throw it from Bunkie to Amite laying on his back, Harris is not SEC champion qb ready, and we all know it. SO him being considered to take 1st team snaps is bad for the overall outlook for this team.

I know they are both tremendously athletic and talented young men, but that doesn't mean they are ready to manage games and the offense consistently against the best teams in the country.

That being said, if a great back comes along and has over 1500 yds rushing, that could make any qb look much much better!

I may be overstating the amount he played WR by the end of his career, but he definitely played WR before he got to the NFL.

And he threw for 1700 yards as a freshman. I don't think it's inconceivable to see Harris exceeding that. We won't run either QB as much as they ran him though.

Was not overly complimentary of Cam Cameron. Said Mett was 5th year senior when CC got him so he was advanced already. Mentioned Randle El as the only real young raw QB that CC brought along and Harris/Jennings have nowhere near the talent that Randle El had.

I don't mind anything else he said, but this..

But this is the reason I don't care for Guilbeau.. but he can have his opinion.. but I don't appreciate his smug diss towards Coach Cam. So what the previous OC had Mett as a 4th year junior and we stunk it up on offense the year prior..

Why does this moron still have a job if he reports this kind of crap? Anybody that couldn't see the difference CC made in Mett is retarded.

Neither QB has looked very good at all. The stats and updates Les gives at the press conferences have no basis in fact.

This is most likely complete bullshite and just about everything else appears to be as well. This guy is a hack and plain and simple.

Dude, he had to say that. You think he was going to completely compliment LSU at this point? He always has negative points when he compliments LSU.

Agree 100%. Even if all the other stuff is accurate, this is plain dumb.

Do you have some video or a link that says either qb has looked good?

I respect Guilbeau for that.
With limited access that appears to be some reasonable statements.
If cleared I do think Valentine plays at some point during the season even if it's late to burn a potential redshirt, a lot will depend on injuries.

I think the QBs will be inconsistent his year which will hold this team back from being great. Excited to see what this D can do, so many great athletes all over the field

Third and medium will be the key to this year's success. If they can convert within 10% of the third and mediums we did last year, we'll lose no more than one game and make the playoffs.

Souljabreaux beat me to it. To simply dismiss Cameron's role in Zach Mettenberger's great season by saying Mett was a 5th yr season, well, that's just retarded.

Nobody would laugh harder at that than Mett himself. According to what the announcers said during games last season, Mett was disappointed that he couldn't stay and have a second season to learn from Cam.

My best guess on GG dissing Cam like that is that Les probably told Cam what a putz GG is. Cam trusts Les's opinion, gives GG the cold shoulder, and voila.....GG has a reason to diss Cam.

That wasn't the only wrong thing GG said, either. Pocic has essentially taken over at Center, and Quinn is in better shape than GG thinks.

I guess we'll see if Cam is worth a flip this coming season. AJ has been around long enough and has some valuable game experience. If he's not good, then that's a huge recruiting fail for Les & Cam. If Harris starts and looks lost, teams will load up on our rb's and LSU will go back to having a crappy offense.

Cam shifted Randle El to WR as a senior I believe. had a bigger, more prototypical QB-sized kid that was maybe a yr or 2 behind Randle El, and they wanted Randle El to play the position he'd play in the NFL and be kind of a David Palmer-type playmaker. it lasted like 2 games, and Cam put him back at QB.

IU was good for being that noon game on ESPN back then, I caught a few games during that era.
