The only way to get over the fear is fly more. You will eventually grow out of it. The plane bobbin' and weavin' no longer bothers you.
I hear it gets better with time

Seeing as I'm currently sitting in the New Orleans airport waiting to go to Dallas.....no.
I've done it plenty of times.

I'm shocked how many adults from Alabama I've met that have never flown before. I guess having only one real airport in the state and it being relatively small makes driving more often the most practical mode.
I will say the BHM upgrades are quite nice.
I used to be a nervous flyer. I got over it by taking a job that had me n the sir 70-80 segments a year. I love it now.

I don't live in Alabama, but my feelings would be hurt if I did

Why? I didn't say it to be mean.

Can you post the statistics for 2014? TIA

If you get scared just think of that airplane scene in Fight Club.

I hate flying but it has nothing to do with fear. I just hate people.

I'm not afraid of flying, but I am afraid of crashing.

I used to be the same way... Now I want to get my private license over the winter.

I don't like flying. I'm like you. Lack of control.
Xanax is the key. Pop a Xanax or 2 and I don't give a frick

Yes.
When I was in high school I was in a small plane during a rainstorm that fricked up a landing by overshooting the runway. It damn near ran off a cliff before it was able to recover and pull up.
I've never really cared for flying since then.

No, but I am afraid of that long wait going and coming so I drive mostly.

I actually enjoy flying...there is not much that I find more enjoyable than getting in a small airplane with a pilot friend and just cruising around checking things out...actually found a few damn good duck holes on public land doing just that...
now, flying commercial is a different story...flying itself is still pretty enjoyable and is kinda like being on a bus except with a whole lot better view...
the experience in airports and the general shittiness of airlines makes me want to drive whenever I can just to avoid air travel...

How do you feel about trains, boats, or amusement park rides? How about being a passenger in a car? You lack control in those situations. It's probably because you don't like heights and haven't flown much.
There have been 2 people that died on commercial airline crashes in the us in the past 5 years, and they were on the same plane. That's on over 10 million flights. Over 10 million and 1 had fatalities. You are fine. Think rationally.. You will not die.

No.
I look at it this way. Once you accelerate on the runway and something happens, you won't feel anything anyway. I'm sure it'll be pretty instant.

I don't like small planes, they are really scary in stormy weather
