Sort of the reason I (no matter what I'm doing) have a gun on me.
My friend who is prosecutor for the county said that after seeing how many times people were robbed in unlikely situations (like sitting on your front porch) he started to carry everywhere even mowing his lawn.
Well, he can't carry into the courthouse.

It is odd ,but most burglars /thiefs aren't really violent/murderers & just want your property & sometimes panic or let their guard's down when someone is home when they really aren't supposed to be.
Over 2-3 million burglaries & robberies a year in the US & the gun nuts go crazy with a few dozen instances where a gun is used to earnestly stop a criminal.
