Can some of your OT Ballers tell me about living in Dallas?

I've got an offer on the table to move there. I live in Birmingham,AL right now.
It seems like a no brainer to most of you I'm sure, but I've got a great social circle here, my family is close, money is adequate and I'm truly loving life.
Of course the pros are that Dallas > BHM, huge opportunity as far as my career goes, more money from day one of the move and hell, who doesn't like an adventure.
So I guess this thread is a two part.
I'd like some 3rd party advice that will be honest with me about leaving friends and family for money and the second part is where should I live in Dallas?
I'd be renting for about 3 - 6 months until I get a feel for the place. I want to be around other young single professionals but don't care about staying around the most expensive places in town. Closer to public parks and the airport the better.
And before I get blasted by the OT, I've discussed this with my family and they didn't give any advice one way or the other. Not going to drop it on my friends till a decision has been made.

Is this thread about your quarterly 80% raise?

You'll be much closer to Paige.

The airport in dallas proper is love field and you don't want to live there. The best suburb to bring a family is frisco. Frisco has good schools and plenty of parks, lake Lewisville, restaurants, etc. But it really depends on where your job will be because traffic can be a bitch.
May have misread your post about family. ..young singles are all over dallas area

The way you lie about things constantly to fit in and act like you have more than what you really have will make you fit right in with 99% of the other young people in Dallas. Of course Dallas does have a lot of wealthy and successful people but it's got more fakers. Should be up your alley.

Have you factored in that you would have to trade daily Gump circle jerks for daily Cowboy circle jerks?

I'd love to help but I don't have any OT ballers

I lived in Dallas for a year and if you decide to move there I think any of the new apartment complexes on Katy Trail in Uptown Dallas would fit the bill for what you are looking for.
I lived in Uptown off McKinney Ave and it was incredible being able to Park my car Friday afternoon and not get in it until I left for work Monday morning since there are so many bars/restaurants in walking distance. Also Uber is plentiful there so DUIs in Uptown are non-existent.
Plenty of good looking girls, and the ratio is favorable unlike Houston.

Hot as balls in summer, frigid in winter, and you can't swing a dead cat without hitting a Texan.

Uptown. Live there, it's awesome. It's expensive. Go to cedar springs bars.
Listen to sports radio specifically on Monday mornings... The way they love/hate their cowboys... It's fricking awesome.

Check out the village apartments. You can get a decent rate for a short span before you decide where you want to sign an extended lease. Uptown is where you'll find OT 5's, IRL 9's. Be sure to flash your cash as that's all anyone cares about in Big D.

First part is obvious on paper. You stated this. Dallas is way better than fricking anywhere in Alabama.

If you are single, Uptown is where you want to be. If you are a poser you'll fit right in with all the other 40k/year millionaires

Dallas blow Birmingham away! I have never lived in B'ham but work there quite a bit. I have lived 50 miles south of Dallas and did alot of business there. If you have a chance to make more money and live in Dallas you should jump on the opportunity. You can always retire back to B'ham one day.

I'd recommend white rock lake/lakewood. A little more laid back than the rest of big D proper and still has the feel of old Dallas.
If you're into shiny new apts., trendy restaurants and fresh-from-college crowd... then uptown / west village.
All of the suburbs are pretty much the same. Southlake, Plano, Frisco, etc. all have urban eclectic developments trying to emulate uptown for young white corporate nomads.
ETA: a *lot* depends on your job location. Dallas traffic and construction is out of hand these days. Don't live in Frisco and work in Las Colinas for instance. You're asking for a beating.

I've been here 3 years. Starting a SEC Game-Watching group in uptown for the Fall

The Dallas suburbs are so awful that I would rather rub one out with sandpaper than live there.
Uptown Dallas or lower Greenville.
Oak Lawn is the gayborhood, so you might like it just fine

Moving to Dallas tomorrow actually. Got a place in Knox-Henderson but like other posters have been saying anywhere uptown is prime.
