FERGUSON, Mo. -- The officer who shot and killed an unarmed teenager in Ferguson, Missouri was injured in the alleged altercation, according to Ferguson Chief of Police Tom Jackson.
Jackson, who spoke on the phone with News 4's Laura Hettiger Wednesday morning, said the officer "was hit" and the "side of his face was swollen." The chief did not say if the officer suffered any broken bones.

Do folks really believe that he just hopped out of his patrol car and gunned down someone? Im not sure if the use of deadly force was justified or not, but I do believe that will be the question that needs to be answered. This narrative that these two were just minding their own business and had no altercation with the officer has always seemed very suspect.

Will be interesting to see when the facts of the case start to paint a clearer picture of what transpired.

I find it interesting that the one piece of info the police feels comfortable leaking makes their case look good. And by interesting, I mean predictable and boring.

I think saw somewhere that Brown was 6'4" so not a small dude. Definitely could do some damage in a fight. I'm hopeful there is video just to put this to bed one way or the other.

Seems a little late to be putting this info out.

Yes, there are people out there whose knee-jerk reaction to white-on-black or cop-on-black violence is that it was solely due to racism.

The witnesses will claim Brown was gunned down without providing provocation and those inclined to believe that rendering of the facts will gladly do so.

The cops will claim the officer feared for his life and those inclined to believe that rendering of the facts will gladly do so.

Without solid evidence, one way or the other, facts are what you believe them to be.

I think he did to harass someone...someone who kept it real. Officer Brown kepts it realzer

he's a cop...a punch to the face doesn't call for lethal force.

isn't it clear already...make a cop feel like the small timer he is, get clipped

The kid messed up his mug so he shot him dead for it. That's what you're saying?

Was it still alive?

No, but I also don't think that 6-8 shots (as reported) were needed to take down an unarmed person.

Again, the truth is somewhere in the middle.

I don't give a shite what did or did not happen in this case. There is no excuse for Americans to riot, steal, and tear up stuff that does not belong to them. The court system will work its due process and an decision will be made by the powers that be at a later date.

The display of filth that has plagued my tv screen of seeing these Americans act in this manner sickens me.

I am sure he did, and I can guarantee the kid was a tPOS, but he didn't deserve to be killed over it. Maybe shot in the junk or something followed by 20 years behind bars but killing him was a little much.

He is not unarmed if he is trying to disarm a police officer.

One question, why is there even an investigation into whether his civil rights were violated ?

When white people get murdered it's just a murder investigation?

'Alleged' altercations do not lead to facial injuries, do they?

what I have heard is that he was attacked fired once than fired twice more after he forced the kid out of the car. IF he gets charged with anything it won't be much. But the black community will probably call for the death penalty.

Yes. Just like people believe that Tony Stewart ran over that guy on purpose.

They are all idiots.
