Original X-men movie question...

So in one of the opening scenes Rogue is in her room with her high school boyfriend, with a bunch of exposed skin, and when she kisses him he almost dies/dies. Her dad screams "what did you do" and she responds "i just touched him."
Sooooo...she had late-onset mutant powers? She had never made contact with a person's skin in the first 16+ years of her life? Her parents didnt die when they held her as a baby? This character development makes no sense to me.

Mutant's powers manifest themselves at different points in their lives. Some of them get powers as a kid. Others don't see any signs until late teens, early adulthood.

Clearly there was no sign that she had powers prior to this incident. If there was, she would not have kissed someone.

Mutant powers do not manifest until your teenage years in most cases. Hence the opening scene of X2 with Angel cutting his wings off. Or the entire Jean Grey plotline.
It also makes it a more clear analogy for homosexuality.

Mutants have the lamest origins ever.

You didn't know bro? X Men is just gay propaganda.

This. That was fairly straightforwardly presented IMO.

Well it wasn't until Magneto's mom was separated from him that his powers came about. Maybe with Rogue being intimate with the BF made hers appear. An emotional and/or physical trigger.

So powers come with puberty...got it. When reading minds, maybe Dr. X should touch his nuts instead of his temple.

are we talking about x-men of today? because im pretty sure it was about racial discriminations when it started.

Why are mutant powers not like anything else coded into our bodies? Not everyone hits growth spurts at the same time, why would everyone have to get their powers at the same time?
It's just a thought as to why hers weren't present throughout her entire life.

Correct. Professor X and Magneto were meant to represent Dr. Martin Luther King and Malcome X, respectively.
One had a dream of peaceful coexistence and the other was more "By any means necessary".

Yes. And it moved on to gay allegory in the 80s/90s. Hence the Legacy Virus storyline. Also, Bryan Singer was the director of the first two X-Men movies, and he's an outspoken gay activist. He clearly leaned more on the gay metaphor than the race metaphor.
Hate to break it to you: the X-Men are stand ins for gay people.

Singer's X-Men movies are obviously a gay parable.

i really dont care either way. its really just meant to represent "outcasts," which can be anyone of any race, gender, sexuality, etc.
i really never got huge homosexual undertones from any of the films though. if so:

Darkseid pushed it in pretty hard for him in the tourney last week.

Ian MacKellan is gay.
Also, I will point out that Magneto and Charles Xavier's lifelong friendship despite being at literal war with one another is a lot easier to explain if there is a romantic/sexual component to it. It is certainly passionate and lifelong, and both men are romantically unentangled.
But it's a metaphor for homosexuality, not literal.

so is Magneto's character meant to represent those who want to turn everyone gay? is x2 about trying to hide your gay evolution and also wolverine discovering his hidden, gay origins?
some themes might be there, but the generic outsider motif fits way more. also allows each person to find themselves in the story.
just curious, how many characters (not actors) in xmen are gay? havent followed in a few years. anyone of note or just minor characters?
