You sure are hung up on this. Do you truly believe Brown was being arrested for walking in the street?

The question for me isn't what do you do at that moment. I get what you're saying and that's completely reasonable. For me the question is what can be done so that those bad ones aren't going around killing people or beating them or whatever the case might be. Just rolling over every time it happens and never doing anything will never change things.

Questioning authority shouldn't mean death. This isn't Nazi Germany.

I'm also sure he had the mental capacity to observe if a car was coming and get out if the way.

The witness says the cop car was past them. That's almost the one thing I don't think he has a reason to lie about.

That's the hypothetical being discussed here as a "lawful order." Do you have different information?

Deciding to go one on one to execute an arrest is not the same as jumping into an angry mob.

The question posed to you was:

"Isn't part of being a cop picking your battles?"

Your answer was:

"Unfortunately no." Followed by an example, not any further clarification or explanation. It's not my fault you make blanket statements that you can't defend.

Your comparison is full of shite

You're argumentative skills are full of shite. To prove it, I'll give you easier comparisons.

Cops see people jaywalking all the time, yet don't arrest all of them. Not an example of picking their battles?

Cops see people change lanes on the highway without signaling all the time, yet font give all of them tickets. Not an example of picking their battles?

Cop has a driver pulled over for speeding, 75 in a 70. Car flies by going 100, followed by 2 cop cars in pursuit. Cop runs back to his car to join in the pursuit. Not an example of choosing his battles?

You are really hung up on if this cop should have told him to get out of the street. Do you know if Mike was walking down the middle of the road making cars go around him?

If you've never seen blacks hang out in the middle of the street making people go around them and impeding the flow of traffic I suggest spending some time in predominantly black areas. For all we know this cop could have been sent to that area and asked to patrol because of numerous complaints of people hanging out in the street

No I'm questioning the reason to stop him. None of this would have happened if the cop hadn't have stopped him. That was the escalation point IMO

The cop did not need to approach. There was no reason for him to approach. It was at his discretion that he approached.

99.9% of cops wouldn't have thought twice about someone walking on a street like this. Mike ran into the .1% of cops who saw it as an opportunity to harass someone, whether they were white or black I don't think mattered. It was more about the cop was the big bad dude on the block and he was gonna let everyone know it.

Thank god for your level headed suggestions. Now I just have to head down to Kingshighway and wait for the blacks to block traffic.

I consider it a matter of intelligence. Everyone knows the stereotypes that exist about cops. Even though there are more good ones than bad ones you know that you could be running into someone that may abuse his authority by any number of ways. Could be as minor as simply harassing you or could be as bad as charging you with bull shite charges, beating or even killing you. So what does an intelligent person do???

So it's ok and understandable for cops to be of unacceptable intelligence levels, but not the people they are protecting and serving?

That's what I'm saying. That was the escalation point. Limp dick cop gets pissed that this kid isn't following his orders. Questions his power. Time to make an example of him. That's the mentality of SOME of these officers

Cops likely handle such mundane issues every day without anyone being shot multiple times. Why did it happen this one time? Is there not even any curiosity?

It's safe to say everyone wants to know the answer to this. Look you and others can't get past why didn't the cop just go about his business while others are of the position why didn't the guy just listen to the officer.

If cop murdered him I will be the first one to say give him the DP. Sad part is if it is a justified shooting some will never think it was.

What pisses most people off is the actions many have taken to protest what one cop did.
