man, I really like Sowell, but I think he's off here

no one says that Israel should keep each side's civilian casualties equal. that's a pretty blatant straw man. you don't have to believe such a stringent requirement is just to acknowledge that Israel has a problem with mistreating Palestinian civilians

This. Everyone with a brain can see that Israel has a clear military advantage and the general complaint is that they aren't doing enough to minimize civilian casualties... and in some cases may be targeting civilians.

That's also pure baloney. IDF soldiers murder Palestinian teenagers on a routine basis, then when some non-Hamas approved individuals murder three Jews Israel used that an excuse to decimate Gaza. Then, Hamas' s rockets were launched only after weeks of Israeli killing and homewrecking, in an obviously desperate and symbolic move because they know their weapons can't pierce the Iron Dome.

I used to have your same attitude... automatically excusing anything by the Israelis because they are on our side... supposedly. Then I began to LISTEN.

I am so sick of hearing about 'disproportionate' response from Israel. What would a 'proportionate' response be? This is war. Don't take a knife to a gunfight, and you won't get your arse handed to you.

As far as being dismissive of Palestinian lives, have you ever heard of an enemy combatant sending warnings about when and where bombs are about to be sent? If Israel was truly 'dismissive' of Palestinian lives, then Gaza would already have been leveled and there wouldn't be a single living being left.
