if he really was that good he'd have other offers (see: Gordon Hayward and Chandler Parsons situations this offseason)
reality hurts, you were injured in your only season with starter minutes and a middle of the pack PG when you were healthy

If teams felt he was worth a max,he would've gotten an offer already.
The 4/48 from PHX was a fair deal imo

Nah. It's about scarcity. How many teams need to upgrade pg and are willing/able to pay a RFA premium to do so?
By contrast, how many teams need to upgrade on the wings and how many good wings are there?

I always thought that Bledsoe has been miscast as a PG. He has seemed to play better as an undersized SG. I'm pretty surprised a team like the Sixers hasn't offered him yet. They could actually offer max contracts to both Bledsoe and Monroe and still be under the cap..

The Sixers have no desire to be good at basketball for at least the next 5 years.
The GM will be called brilliant for deliberately sucking dick, until he's finally fired for sucking too much dick for too long.

I agree that RFA is unfair because it can lock a player in a situation they want out of.
I'm pretty much pro-player in almost every one of these types of arguments. I also have no issue with a player pleading like Batum and asking the team to let him go. But in the end, I side with the team using their rights to that process, and I get that the player may not be happy, but he should oblige, understanding the process. If the final year was just guaranteed, he'd have no say just like he doesn't have say as a RFA, unless I'm missing something here.

There is a lot of truth to this. I know they are stockpiling assets, but they have to make a move sooner or later. If they offered Bledsoe and Monroe the maxs, then got both. They would probably be a playoff team this season. MCW/Bledsoe/Young/Monroe/Noel or Embid is a pretty nice starting 5. Plus they'd still have tons of space, picks and guys stashed overseas..

You're right, but I think they are still planning on giving this season away. Otherwise they wouldn't have drafted Embiid. I think they are banking on getting another top draft pick then making a move next off season; trading picks or young players for a big time player.

It's a big gamble. I think 3 seasons should have been enough for a total reload, if you do it right. They already have their foundation pieces, cleared their cap and should have made their move this summer. I know the fans are being really patient there. But they have to be starting to get restless. Tanking 4 seasons is a bit extreme (even though they were trying to be good the first year)..

You guys don't have the money or ammo to acquire Bledsoe.

If a RFA wants out and signs an offer sheet that gets matched then they are forced to spend years in a place they wanted out of. The only options RFAs have are to sign a QA which sacrifices money or get an offer that won't be matched. I understand that the rule was made to help with parity and I actually am in favor of it but it can be seen as unfair.

I'm not so sure. He still has never been the first PG on any team he has played for.

If you want to count him as a SG he's definitely top 10 there, too.
SG is much weaker than PG. After looking at it Bledsoe is probably in the 8-14 range of PG. It gets really murky around that area.

You can try to argue he's a top 10 SG, but that's debatable. PG isn't even close.

Just off the top of my head kobe, Joe Johnson(maybe) , Lance Stephenson, Bradley Beal, Manu, Jimmy Butler, klay Thompson, Dion waiters(maybe), Ellis, DeRozan, harden, Dwayne wade would be all arguments against Bledsoe being a top 10 sg

Bledsoe and Monroe would make them better yes but the former is injury prone but talented and the latter is a defensive liabilty.
I really think they'll try to turn noel into a 4 and embiid at 5. That's their frontcourt of the future.
It would just be against their MO to go after guys even if they can. They'll probably at best take big contracts on and flip them later when they expire.
Posted on 8/3/14 at 12:50 pm to LosLobos111
At some point philly is going to have to pay these guys they've stashed on rookie contracts. I think one more year is acceptable but anything longer than that is dumb. Not to mention their rookies will put up inflated numbers on a terrible team, increasing their value for their eventual payday.

Four anonymous NBA executives told The Arizona Republic that they don't think Eric Bledsoe deserves a maximum contract right now.
The restricted free agent has turned down a four-year, $48 million offer from the Suns in the hopes of landing a max deal with the Suns or another team. "He expected way too much," one executive said. "I'd love to have him, but he's not a max player. All it takes is one team, but one team hasn't made him an offer sheet." Absent of an offer from another team, the Suns hold most of the cards here so there's a good chance we see Bledsoe back in a Suns uniform for the 2014-15 season
