Made reservations to dine at Dickie Brennans for the first time. Laboca is my go to steakhouse and its hard to imagine anything better, but I decided to venture out this weekend. Any input or suggestions would be appreciated.

It's okay. Not great, imo.

NY Strip and that tobasco oyster salad and I'm golden. Enjoy. Last time I had a prime rib at lunch. Really nice. I like the strip though.

If it's not too late, check out Doris Metropolis.
Think it's best in breed.

I'm usually not an advocate of ordering filet in a restaurant, but the house filet is excellent with creamed spinach, fried oysters, pontabla potatoes and béarnaise sauce. The turtle soup is no slouch either.

As you already know, there are better steakhouses in the city, but that doesn't mean you won't enjoy yourself or your meal while at Dickie's.
Never had a bad meal at Dickie's and I enjoy the sauces that can accompany the steaks along with the loud atmosphere.

Last time I went was a year ago and it was a disappointment. The ribeye was not a great cut of meat and it was overcooked. Medium rare and cooked medium well. And no I didn't send it back, a big group of guys drinking and having a good time. I'd be willing to give it another shot though based on reputation.
