No, I want to deport him to Kenya.

I think it's funny that you really believe that little technicalities like that are an obstacle to this guy. He has a pen and a phone, after all.

believe that the President has the unilateral ability to grant citizenship without the help of Congress. I think we are mixing up pardons with citizenship.

Impeached. Removed from office. Whatever.

What is to stop him from granting amnesty to all the residents of Gaza and relocating them to the US?

Do you have a link to him proposing this?

In Univision's Adriana Vargas asked President Obama if, in the event Congress failed to pass immigration legislation, he could simply use his presidential power to give amnesty to the estimated 11 million people currently in the U.S. illegally.
The president didn't exactly shut the door on that possibility, though he did strongly suggest it was a portal he'd rather not go through.
OBAMA: "Probably not. I think that it is very important for us to recognize that the way to solve this problem has to be legislative. I can do some things and have done some things that make a difference in the lives of people by determining how our enforcement should focus. Right now we're focused much more on criminals. We're focused much more on those who have endangered people or communities. And we've been able to provide help through deferred action for young people and students — the DREAMers who I've had a chance to meet with. And they're just incredible young people and great assets to the United States. But this is a problem that needs to be fixed legislatively. So I'm not going to speculate on the House bill failing. I'm going to make sure that I do everything I can to help it succeed."
"Probably not" is obviously not the same as "no" or "never." So Obama seems to be keeping the option available to himself even as he puts the onus on Congress to achieve an immigration overhaul that includes a path to citizenship, known to its detractors as "amnesty."

Assuming amnesty = citizenship I would want my congressman to file a lawsuit against the action instead of impeachment. A successful lawsuit should rescind amnesty and put those people in back of the line for citizenship. I don't care if they are receiving benefits while in line, that's fine. I just don't want them eligible to vote before assimilation.

Are you sure the Kenyans would actually take him ?

Sure. Jimmy Carter did it for all the draft dodgers back in 1977.

How can you pardon people that you do not know?

It's an interesting question. Technically, though the president can't unilaterally grant them citizenship, granting a general amnesty could fall under Article II powers to grant reprieves and pardons for crimes against the United States--in this case illegal entry and/or evasion of authorities, taxes, etc (or whatever the applicable statutes are). I don't think there's a precedent on this scale. I'd imagine the amnesty granted following the Civil War would be the largest in US History, but I haven't verified that. On the other hand, there is an argument to be made that he failed to "take care that the laws be faithfully executed" on a fairly grand scale. Other presidents have done this to one degree or another, but this may constitute a substantial departure.
Now, I haven't seen any reliable indication that this is his plan (a formal proclomation of amnesty) and think it would be politically toxic.

Yes, but only after the mid-terms

However he doesn't even believe it is possible to issue executive orders granting amnesty, so why does everyone think he is planning to do it? In his first term he didn't even make a strong move towards immigration reform.

I want his impeachment regardless.

As long as we impeach Biden, Kerry and Congress at the same time, I'm down with it.

But, honestly, Impeachment may not be the best path. That would make two Dem POTUS's in a row impeached.
The GOP needs to do a better job of educating the voters about the consequences of Obama's policies and lawlessness.

So you'd argue that the position that he is impeachable has merit but simply isn't politically feasible?
Perhaps, but I think the bar should be pretty high. If the House begins to view impeachment as a political tool, we could be in for a wild ride. It's only happened twice in history for a reason.

its a disturbing trend that the impeachment thing is going outside the wackos.
Clinton was impeached, there was a mild push to impeach bush, and now its seeping out for obama. none of them have done enough to warrant impeaching, although if you could prove bush lied to take us to war with iraq that might have been worthy.
