Need quite a few OT ballers to make that happen... Not sure Thon will ever play in college.

He can't jump straight to the league. You think he goes to Europe or China for a year?

Someone said IMG just to train for a year. Honestly, that's probably one of his best options. I don't think he gives half a shite if he ever wears a college jersey. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing, as I see him as another guy that could show the folly of trying to shoehorn guys into the current system.

Don't see him going overseas or pro for a year. If they don't think he ever gets NCAA eligible, he could go prep for a year after he "graduates" from a HS then be NBA eligible.

I didn't realize Aaron Epps played AAU with MALIK NEWMAN and Johnny O'Bryant...

He did... Jackson Tigers in the EYBL. Doesn't mean they have much of a relationship. A lot of these kids don't meet until the weekend of the tournament.

Yea, that's certainly true. Connections are sometimes what makes the difference. For example, Simmons ain't coming here without Patrick. Blakeney ain't coming here without Simmons...

If Mickey and Martin stay do we have any more scholarships to give out? I was talking to a manager on the team, and he said they may not have any more room. I really want Lyle. Hope there is a scholarship available for him if Mickey and Martin stay.

Manager says if everyone stays, no more scholarships available. Problem is that we can't offer Lyle unless we know we have a scholarship available.

Attrition happens every offseason. Could see Bridge or Malone leave. We'd make room.

I'd like to see Malone stay. If Bridgewater leaves the basketball program, I really hope it's not to transfer to play basketball somewhere else. I'd like to see him just switch locker rooms on campus.

If lyles comes, who much playing time does that leave for Gray? It appears that Quarterman has beaten him out, Patterson is equal, and next year both should be better.

Absolutely this. It looks like we won't sign a full class in a couple of weeks. Jones might need to have a meeting with Miles about a 6'5" 265 lb TE/DE that can also walk on to the basketball team a'la Julius Peppers.

How much Gray play will be up to Gray imo. He has to earn the trust of his coaches and teammates if he wants to start next season. It's more likely that Quarterman, Lyle and Patterson run the point next year with Gray being a rotation player at this point. But if Hickey can get run off then so can Gray, so that certainly is not out of the question. Coach Johnny be processing fools like Saban, lol.

I actually didn't think about that side of it, but that's a great idea as well. Football scholly, basketball walk-on, instead of just football scholly alone.
Provided he could still keep his grades up, which definitely wouldn't be easy under those circumstances. Especially since we don't have the same phantom department that awarded Peppers his degree.

There's gotta be something in the NCAA rulebook that bars players from doing this.
I will say Bridgewater is very talented, but he's got a center skillset in a 6'4 body. I think he could be a really good player at UNO, SELA, NWST, McNeese level competition where he isn't facing 6'9+ guys all the time.

If you are on athletic scholarship and play football, it has to be a football scholarship by rule.

Bridgewater doesn't want to play football
Posted on 1/24/15 at 1:48 pm to chuckie3325
He wouldn't have to play football. He'd just be on a football scholarship.
