Everyone praising Strong needs to remember this when Texas doesn't compete for the Big 12 title this year. And there comes a point that you have to win.

It's year 1. And people don't expect Texas to win the Big 12.

Reminds of when Urban took over at Florida, although I think most of those kids leaving was because they literally couldn't handle the conditioning he instituted

We are seeing first hand why Texas had crap seasons from 2010-2013. The talent they had could not overcome the knuckleheads and Mack fostered that environment. They needed a new coach to come in and set the record straight

i approve of him. Him doing this sets him far apart from Mack Brown. Hopefully Mack doesnt torpedo him and comment that he does not approve.

Texas fans and admins have even held up that entitlement reputation. good to see things come back down to earth.

If this is from a failed drug test he will have a hard time getting recruits.

I just don't get the allure of drugs (mostly weed) to these young guys. They have athleticism and, in turn, access to girls that others just don't. Is it really that hard to just drink alcohol occasionally - which flushes from your system in a matter of hours.

Hopefully Strong stays true to his principles, and doesn't crumble under pressure if things get bad, like Urban did at UF.

what's the body count now? 6? 7?

I believe it's 8 if you include Meander and Sanders. Sanders also has a DWI so I feel like he is gone. I'm not positive about Meander but I would guess he is gone as well. Two other players, FB Chet Moss and DB Leroy Scott have also been dismissed. I believe those two were due to failed drug tests as well.

One thing to add is that Kendall Thompson is quitting because of concussions

Texas biggest problem was the sense of entitlement players had.

Strong is addressing this.

it will hurt as first but ultimately Texas will be the program it can be.

Strong might be fired by then, but this is progress

Love Strong and thankful for what he did for us, but his conservative offense needs to change big time to keep the natives happy. Will UT fans be happy beating the likes of North Texas 23-13?

With the running backs he can recruit in Texas, strong can build a bad arse offense around the soft arse big 12 defenses. I have liked strong since he was at Florida and I hope he does well. (That hurts me to at cause I have a ton of UT friends)

I was one step ahead of you. Rumors are that Daje Johnson, Kennedy Estelle, and Desmond Harrison may be the next to bite the dust.

Yep. Didn't realize how bad the entitlement issues were, but glad he is addressing them. That needs a change

Why the hell do you hope it works? It's Texas for God's sake. I hope it fails miserably.
