Fantastic choice in AR! DD makes one hell of a rifle.
Do you know what distances you will be shooting? For a combat/close acquisition system, I would go with a red dot optic. But if you wanna extend your range a bit, a low-to-mid power scope would be good for you as well. I would keep the objective at 30mm or 40mm to keep the rifle small and compact. I think seeing a 50mm or 60mm scope on a 16" AR is a bit comical.

That's primarily what I'm considering. I know I don't want a strict medium/long distance optic like the 4x Acog, for example, because I want something suitable for close quarters. So I'll be looking at EOtech (Red dot/3x magnifier combo maybe), Aimpoint, the Elcan Specter DR, and some other stuff.

Know that a hybrid sighting setup is very long and heavy. While it does give you some flexibility, it takes up a lot of space on your receiver.
I would go with a small 1-4x scope if I were you, as opposed to a fixed magnification like with an ACOG. If you have never looked through one, the eye relief is very strange. A regular scope is much more forgiving.
EDIT: I have a review of an EOtech XPS2 and magnifier on my YouTube channel. It was unfortunately filmed with a shitty camera but it's there.

Hey Tom I may have a Primary Arms 1-6x for sale in a couple weeks whenever my vortex 1-4x gets here. Or I may sell the vortex depending on which is better.

Very interested in which you pick. I have both of them as well.
