Why does LSU typically play so bad on senior day under Les?

Since Les arrived, LSU has almost always played terribly in the last home game of the season. LSU typically plays down to much lesser opponents. Why do you think that is?

Here are senior day results since Les arrived:

2005: LSU ranked #3. Barely beat a terrible 4 win Arkansas team 19-17.
2006: LSU ranked #9. Needed a 4th down conversion & overtime to beat a horrible 3 win Ole Miss team.
2007: LSU ranked #1. Lost overtime game to a 5 loss Arkansas team.
2008: LSU ranked #18. Got pistol whipped by an unranked 4 loss Ole Miss team 31-13.
2009: LSU ranked #17 .Overtime win over unranked 4 loss Arkansas team.
2010: LSU ranked #5. Needed a TD in last minute to beat an awful 6 loss Ole Miss team.
2011. LSU ranked #1, Beat #3 Arkansas' arse. Senior day aberration under Les.
2012. LSU ranked #8. Again needed last minute TD to beat 5 loss Ole Miss.
2013: LSU ranked #15. Needed another last minute TD to beat an awful 3 win Arkansas team.

So what gives? Why do we have a history of playing so terribly in the last home game of the season but not in other games? Players are too emotional? Lack of motivation to play bad teams? Team is tired?

Does this worry anyone with Bama being our senior day game this season?

Because all of our great players leave as Juniors... so there are few seniors "playing" for that day.

We had this problem from time to time under Saban as well.

It's after Alabama. That game just drains too much out of everyone. If we lose, the feeling is like the season is over. If we win, then there's nothing to worry about until the SEC championship game

because Houston Nutt owned that arse. That's why.

PS - Nutt record vs LSU while at Arky and Ole Miss was 6-7. That is phenomenal considering the teams he had at those schools vs LSU's teams.

I think it has something to do with Ole Miss and Arkansas, some teams just match up well against u.

But u are on to something here.

How many of these were day games?
I wonder if Les does get a bit emotional here?

After Alabama is most of it, if this is the preceeding game, without a doubt.

Love to hear how this got on your mind in July, but keep it clean please?

This year will break the Arkansas/Ole Miss pattern, with Bama being the Senior Day game. I would say most of these are post-Bama letdowns, as we might see again when we go to Arkansas.

Because the word Arkansas doesn't get anyone excited about anything.

it cannot be overstated how drained we were at that point in the season. it showed the very next week against UGA in the SECCG. Not having a bye week kinda sucks

Arkansas was not a bad team in 2007. While there was no excuse losing, Arkansas was pretty good, regardless of record.

we had 4 losses in 2009 as well. We weren't much better than them

No matter the coach we tend to not take OM and Ark as seriously as we should. THEY ALWAYS play like it's the Super Bowl. Nonetheless, we win more often than not. So at the end of the day your complaint is that there are two SEC west teams whom we always beat but just not by enough for your taste. Cool.

Because LSU typically has a goal of winning the natty. By that time the goal is usually unreachable, so there is not much to play for. LSU's opponent is usually chasing a reachable goal such as a bowl game.

Ole Miss has historically played LSU tough in Tiger Stadium
LSU historically struggles against Arkansas (with the exception of 2011)

Generally, the last home game is one of those two teams.
