Why is that the neighbor's problem though. I work nights....should I demand people not do yardwork until the afternoon because I'm sleeping?

It's called being a decent human being. I can employ the same thinking to blaring music at 2:00 am in my backyard. Why is it my problem if people are sleeping next door?

are lawnmowers really that loud though?

my house is old (built in 1938) and I don't think I could hear someone mowing my yard unless they were directly next to the room I was in

One reason to move away from subdivisions into a rural area with some acreage and some peace and quiet.

One thing I learned about the OT today. They make for shitty neighbors.

Sure. I can hear my neighbor's right now and our houses aren't even all that close.

damn, sorry

either I'm going deaf or you got some really thin walls and/or single paned windows

I don't mow my grass that early because I hate mowing wet grass. But I wouldn't have any problem with my neighbor mowing their yard that early. And I have a 14 month old too.

Every Saturday morning in the summer when I wake up, before I start doing the yard, I think about the time and how it will affect my neighbors. Honestly, I didn't believe I was the exception. Hopefully, the OT is not a representation of the average home owner.

Nope. New construction and well insulated.

Cutting the grass that early in the morning on a weekend is suspect.

However, people aren't obligated to revolve their day around your kid's schedule.

I don't think he was complaining about someone fitting his families schedule, it was about pure courtesy. Regardless if someone has a child sleeping, you shouldn't cut your grass at 6:30 am just as you wouldn't want your neighbor blaring loud music at 3am. You people are fricking stupid.

Do you know his schedule? Is this a weekly occurrence or an isolated incident? If it's an isolated incident, maybe this is the only time that he has to do it?

mowing grass =/= blaring loud music

one serves a purpose, the other doesn't

This.

It's about being a decent human being. It's like driving slow in the left lane, taking up two spots in a crowded parking lot, or talking during a movie. It's a crappy "the world revolves around me" attitude.
