I love to watch this guy on special teams but he seems to be light to play in the middle. Has he tried to gain weight and muscle to take on the hugh offensive lineman or should he be moved to Safety? I know the Chief loves speed but he is at a huge disadvantage. Does anyone know if he can bulk up?

I saw Deion a few weeks back and he is in the 220 range right now. Welter plays in the middle not Jones he plays outside.

Debo is not, nor will ever be a MLB. He is the prototypical OLB for Chavis' scheme. I think he and Louis will rotate a lot this year.
The guys a playmaker.

Speed is more important than size in our scheme, especially at LB. Chavis loves those long speedy players.

Chief constantly plugs small, safety sized players in the LB position. It works OK against a majority of teams but not against the upper echelon competition.

I thought he would be starting by now after watching his HS film.

What? Last year the defense took a step back, but relatively speaking they still weren't THAT bad. Other than that, LSU has had a top notch defense under Chavis. shite, LSU won 9 and 10 games respectively in 2009 and 2010 with an offense that could barely complete a forward pass.
The smaller LBs struggle against teams employing a power running game between the tackles (see UGA and Bama from last season) but that has much more to do with the DL struggling. Even bigger LBs would have struggled last year with how poorly the DL played.

go to his profile on lsusports.net they have it.
I remember being at the Jesuit Holy Cross game his senior year, it was insane how much better he was than everyone else.

Debo
Beckwith
Kwon
Should be our starting LBs

Duke Riley is going to shock everyone this year. I think he's going to kill it this year.

THIS. Can you imagine all that speed?

Are you friggin nuts? We regularly stone the most powerful running offense in football. Last year was an exception, but that rested squarely on the DT's, not on LBs.

I believe this is how it will be late in the season

Why does everyone leave out Ronnie Feist? Mark it down, he will be starting somewhere before the season is over.

Good thing he plays the Will position, then.

This is absolutely correct. The dline has to take on line men so the linebacker can make the play, a 300 pound guard leading a 235 pound runningback against a 208 Debo is a mismatch speed or not.
