Not to be forgotten, the United States also shot down a civilian airliner on Reagan's watch.

So, you suggesting we should start bombing the shite out of 1. Ukraine. 2. The rebels or 3. The Russians - war is a motherfricker. Don't need to start one over an civil war in the former Soviet Union - Israel is taking up the slack for starting shite.

I mentioned the Vincennes earlier. I have my own private opinions about that one.

In fairness, the relationship between the US-USSR was substantially different prior to the end of the Cold War. That said, the relationship between the POTUS and the US was substantially different under Reagan too. Reagan and Obama are antitheses.

The story in Beirut wasn’t over. In September of 1984, for the third time in eighteen months, jihadists bombed a U.S. government outpost in Beirut yet again. President Reagan acknowledged that the new security precautions that had been advocated by Congress hadn’t yet been implemented at the U.S. embassy annex that had been hit. The problem, the President admitted, was that the repairs hadn’t quite been completed on time. As he put it, “Anyone who’s ever had their kitchen done over knows that it never gets done as soon as you wish it would.” Imagine how Congressman Issa and Fox News would react to a similar explanation from President Obama today.

In all fairness that was over open water, and 30 years of technology ago.

These situations aren't close to comparable.

Obama has nothing today with the Malaysian plane or the Middle East that warrants criticism.

Reagan had moral courage and indignace over wrongs. Obama is a politician in a suit. That is all.

I'm suggesting that if RR was at the wheel, the perps would have thought long and hard about pulling the trigger. There are no longer consequences for bad behavior, courtesy the Obama love fest. Oh where, oh where have the testicles gone?

I agree. You don't have to drop nukes to be respected. Just them knowing that you won't hesitate to light their asses up is enough to keep them in line, for the most part.

The United States is no longer respected, IMO. Pens, phones, sanctions, and red lines will only go so far. Hell, we can't even protect our own borders.
