Crackpot thread has ruled that he is not Benjen
Okay - I accept that there is still debate and Benjen may end up not being Cold Hands (Night King, I guess, is the popular theory?)

Possible characters that know this are Benjen and Howland Reed, Meera and Jojen(who is evidently now paste),
Well - Benjen, Meera and Jojen would be giving only hearsay evidence - Howland Reed was present at the Tower of Joy - he would be in a position to say if the child was born of LS.

Heresay yes, but directly from the source, Ned for Benjen and Howland for Meera and Jojen.

If it does come to light, I think it will be through Howland Reed. With maybe a confirmation from Bran through his developing abilities to see through the weirwood trees in the past and present. The little perv.

And I am convinced that the only way it is revealed not to be true is if GRRM is having a bitch fest that people figured out his big secret and changed it after the fact.
George RR Martin has a message for those who think he would do something so petty...

I was so pissed when I read that article last week. I think it's a valid concern that we're worried about a 65-year-old obese man who wrote 2 books in 11 years dying before his series is complete.

I mean R+L=J seems like it has to be true, but my question is who is still alive who would even know? maybe Selmy?
Nah, Barristan doesn't have a clue. I think that a few people know the truth:
1) Howland Reed
2) Wylla: still in Dorne and was in the Tower of Joy when Jon was born as a handmaiden/wet nurse
3) Allyria Dayne: I think House Dayne knows, but no one has told Edric yet since he's too young to be trusted with the secret
4) Varys: I don't buy that Varys wouldn't have figured this out. I also think that's the reason why Jaqen was sent to the Wall was to eliminate Jon now that he thought Ned would tell him the truth of his heritage. Once Ned was dead and Jon became Lord Commander (thus the price of his head skyrocketed), Varys let it slide not seeing Jon as a threat anymore.

Bran gonna figure it out at the tree...and Jojen's sister knows I am pretty sure.

I highly doubt that Varys and Littlefinger know about Jon.

Varys was old enough at the time to have noticed something fishy was going on. I don't think anyone told Varys that Jon was Ned's bastard, he just figured it out on his own.
As far as Littlefinger is concerned, I can say with certainty he doesn't know. Not that he's dumb enough not to figure it out, but his pride and hatred for the Starks and Tullys would prevent him from seeing it. I do think that LF honestly believes that Cat had sex with him when he was passed out that night instead of Lysa. I think it tickles LF pink that the man Cat loved was killed brutally, the bride Ned got was soiled, and to top it off Cat gets her second pick of the litter and one that soiled his own reputation by fathering a bastard out of wedlock. LF finds all this way too hilarious and appropriate to even consider that he had not had sex with Cat or Jon Snow wasn't Ned's bastard.

I guess what I thought was my crazy theory after reading just book 1 and seeing the show is much more popular than I thought

New rumors that Jon Snow had a twin sister - Meera Reed. Twists and turns everywhere!

Alfie Allen did say in an interview that he asked GRRM who Jon's parents were and George told him. Alfie said it's very much like Star Wars.

I would remove the R+L=J from the title...its a bit of a spoiler even as musing.
I did not because it's speculation not a spoiler DWI

Looking at the updated thread title it appears someone did DWI.

Bran will definitely know.
If G.R.R. Martin didn't want people to piece things together, he should write the damn books faster. Nothing like giving someone a book every couple years and not expect people to discuss said book. And with the internet taking off, it got to more people faster, and everyone went back to reread the books to see if they could find other clues.
