but only 4 years? Really?

4 years is a good length. Who knows if he will still be the best TE in football at that time? We may resign him at a cheaper rate. We may be dumping salaries and completely retooling. Too far out to tell.

And if Drew is done, who's to say he'll still want to be here?

Here are a couple of Twitter gems just for a couple of laughs
"why so cheap? He needs a new agent."
"that's it? I thought the Saints were going to make him the highest paid TE in history?"
"What a bargain"
"where in the hell are the Saints getting all of this money from? #salarycapgate "
and probably the best one:"that's it? Jimmy Graham is probably so upset that he's making chump change. He should easily be making 15 mil a year" :rotflmao:

Well he did say he didn't want to catch any passes from any one but Drew He may be really serious about that.

“I told Drew that whenever he decides to retire, I'm going to retire,'' - Jimmy (2011)

"I told Drew I'm going to retire with him so hopefully that'll happen." (2014)

Anyway welcome back Jimmy!!

Probably a smart idea from Jimmy's side to do 4 years. Get that last really big contract in a year earlier.

That's exactly what I was thinking.

It will be around the time Brees is thinking of retiring/Saints rebuilding, he will be young enough to get another big contract.

Good point. He will only be 31 when he comes up for his next contract and can probably get another nice 4 year payday if his production hasn't been significantly impacted. It's also probably smart to get your next contract before the HOFer throwing to you retires

So now the pitchforks go back into the closet until it's time for Cam Jordan or Junior Galette to sign a new deal right?
Pretty much

I think we now know the minimum number that CSP and brees are shooting at playing with the Saints. I have zero doubt JG and Brees talked about this. They do seem tied at the hip!
Four more sounds good to me.

I know Galette is a fan favorite but resigning Jordan is about 10x more important

We will keep Cam. I have a feeling Galette may be the one we have to let go due to salary cap :(

Both Mike and Mike espn radio were shocked at the low number for JG. Scheftner was on board saying the numbers were good for JG and at 30 would be a FA to do what he liked.

Not sure why you are throwing Sean Payton into the retirement talk.
