The surfboards can be kind of flaky. I've never had one of the Ciscos, but I've heard good things vs the surfboard

it can't be beat (if your ISP supports it, Cox does) 8x4 bonding, just like the Moto 6141. I've bought and configured one for myself, my parents, and my sister. I used the seller DealTime+ but not sure it matters.

Ok thanks I'll try the cycsco modem out.
So when I get it I just call Cox and give them the new MAP address? Right.

You can call them to perform the set up over the phone but you can also connect the modem over the internet. Set up the modem as usual (Cable cord, Ethernet cable and all that stuff) and then connect to either your computer or Wifi router. Once the modem has connected to the internet, open your internet browser and go to any link and you will be redirected to Cox and you can perform the connection yourself by entering in your Last name, phone number tied to your Cox account and Pin or Social Security #. After entering your account info, you will be given an option to reconnect a prior modem or perform the connection setup for the new one. Select set up a new router option and then select the router type and model from the drop down menus and then type in the Modem's Serial number and MAC address into the boxes and click the Connect button (or whatever it was called).
It takes up to 15 minutes to perform the set up. I did this yesterday when I set up a new Motorola Surf Board 6141. Easy as pie if you go the internet setup route.
Hope this helps

I didn't want to start a new thread, but I am looking for one for comcast X1 compatible. The comcast site does not list the 3010 as compatible, but the 3008 is (and it is more expensive). ANybody kow the difference between the 3008 and 3010? Would the 3008 be a good choice for comcast at $50 used? Or should I jump to the SB6141 for ~$70 used?

My impression from following other forums over the years is exactly the opposite. I've read many more complaints about Cisco modems and tuning adapters than Motorola. If you're in BR, I would definitely recommend Motorola.

why used?
Because he's not an OT baller and can't afford a new one at $109.99 ($99.99 if on sale).

I just got the white surfboard. Because I didn't want to wait until Thursday, I got it just now at Best Buy. Amazon $83, BB $110 +tax
Got an extender and a five port switch.
Network is where I want it to be and in my room on the other side of the house I'm getting 30mb down so I'm happy.
