Yes they do..They either make it during the year, or as a "summer" check.

I've got a few friends who are women and the FB whining has begun. Their vacation wasn't long enough, they're "dreading going back", they're exhausted from hanging up decorations in their classroom, they have meetings, wah wah wah. I really am beginning to hate women. They wouldn't last five minutes at a real job.

As a male teacher I FIFY.

I don't hate teachers...it's actually an honorable career. I could never be a teacher because I don't like being around kids that much.
For me, it would be a very miserable life.

I feel like the issue here is just people who whine in general on FB. Anyone, at any job or career, could find a reason to complain.

The simple fact that they do on FB is pathetic.

I highly doubt the creators of FB had intentions of people using it to whine and bitch about their "terrible" life. Meanwhile in Gaza...

I'm new to the OT, but I'm a college professor. We don't get summers off like K-12, but it is relaxed. I'm actually looking forward to the fall like always. There's nothing better than working on a college campus during the fall.

I always have trouble giving a damn about going back in the "spring." Its too damn cold, and the 18-22 year old girls in their prime have too many layers on.

But You parents are raising some dumbass kids. Every year they get worse. I look forward to the first automatic zero I give for some girl using text message lingo in an academic paper.

Actual quote from a paper on the War of 1812's importance in American history.

Nope, but I do teach at a respected private institution in the SEC footprint.

To be fair, that was one student. A colleague of mine had the same issues and asked her what building her grandfather's name was on - because there was no way she got into this school on her own.

The biggest issue I see is that kids aren't able to think past the memorizable material. They can recite dates, battles, places, but can't tell you what all of it meant to the war effort or how it affects Americans today.

And they love their cell phones. At a roundtable this summer we discussed a survey that a significant number of millennials would rather have the latest iPhone than a car. That baffles me.

did you cheer for drago in rocky 4? i don't understand this mindset. this anti teacher movement lately.

on fb people bitch about traffic going to their jobs, how their coffee maker at work broke, and millions of other first world problems.

in fact many of the non teachers take a week off and then bitch about going back to work. i don't see the difference.

Teachers are paid a salary so they really do get paid.
Not for the summer months, no. They get paid for 182 days.

If you think getting a check = getting paid then figure your salary on 182 days, divide it by 12 and take the summer off too.
