Hey guys, I remember seeing a thread about heartworm medicine on here a while back, but can't find it now. Anyway, I'm about to start my beagle on heartworm med and was wondering which is the best and where's the best place to buy it. Thanks.

We use Heartguard and get it from the vet.

I just give my dogs Ivomec. You can get it at any feed store or Tractor Supply.

I use Trifexis and get it from the SPCA

We do the shot for our dogs. They only have to get it once every 6 months. Not expensive and you don't have to remember giving them their meds each month.

We use ProHeart. It's an injection that we have done at the vet and it lasts for 6 months.

We use trifexis for our dog, once every month and it covers fleas as well. We get it from our vet.

Trifexis is great because it covers fleas, worms, and heart worm the only downside is the price, but its very convenient. Get it from vet.

This and I get it from my daughter.
OP. Before starting your dog, you need to have it checked first to see if it already has heartworms.

Trifexis. get it from a sketcy website called ilovepetmeds.com or something like that. Its the australian version. But much cheaper than buying from here

Ivomec
1/10cc per 10lbs of dog
It's the best thing that ever happened to dogs as well as owners.

So it's made for horses and cattle?
Not knocking you and Kstout, just never heard of it.
Is it pretty simple and easy to do and won't kill the dog?

Heartworm medicine for dogs has the same stuff in it just in a pill form that you have to see a vet to get. The great thing is you can buy Ivomec of the shelf and a $40 bottle will last you a long time.

I used to use that before my daughter became a Vet. It works, but don't go any higher on the dose.

It's the best shite ever.
You draw however much your dog needs in a syringe and shoot it in the corner of his mouth once a month.

My dad is a vet and he recommends HeartGuard to all of his clients. We have used it on every dog we have ever had.

Exactly what I do. My dogs hate it because I imagine it tastes bad. I know some people put it in a hot dog and feed it to them but I would rather just give it to them directly so I know they are getting it in their system.
