Best areas to stay in Jackson, MS for business

Just picked up the city as part of sales territory. You would think with my OM degree I would be an expert on the city, but I'm not. I generally like to stay in a nice part of town where I can walk to a nice dinner and some decent draft beer. Or at least a very short drive to said area. I like popular walking areas.

Ridgeland or maybe Madison. Stay away from Jackson proper as much as possible.

Not going to find all of these options in Jackson.

Again, not in the city itself.

Madison, Flowood, or Ridgeland. Flowood would be the shortest drive, unless your work is on the northeast side of town, and it is a nice area; just not much (read, anything) to do after 8 pm. Ridgeland is next closest drive; look in to the Renaissance area. Madison is nice, but a little bit further out.

Don't worry. You will feel right at home.

I lived in Jackson for 3 years.
I'd recommend living at the King Edward. It's a Hilton hotel property that doubles as a nice apartment complex on the top floors. It's very nice and located around the few nice spots in downtown Jackson.
That said, I wouldn't be walking around very far in downtown Jackson at night.
Also, people that recommend Ridgeland probably lived there as they have some adequate rental properties, but the hotels are garbage. The Hilton off County Line is atrocious.

OP should forget about this walking around from hotel to bar idea. That just isn't a thing in Jackson.

Unless you're staying at the King Edward downtown, you're not going to find a lot of things within walking distance.
I don't recommend the Fondren District. It does have a Fondren After 5 thing, but it's not worth living in that neighborhood.
Flowood, Madison, Ridgeland, and Reservoir Brandon are all nice, but I can't think of a lot of things within walking distance.

Stay in the Renaissance area of Ridgeland. You have 3 hotels to choose from (Embassy, Hilton's new suites and Hyatt), and several restaurants that are walking distance within the Renaissance shopping area (Ruth Chris, Mint, Biaggis, others lower in price, etc). Many more restaurants within a 2 mile drive.

a few options
downtown (yes it's ok to stay there)
king edward hotel
-close to parlor market and la finestra
for good dinner options
-close to underground 119 for drink options
if you don't want to stay downtown check out highland colony parkway in ridgeland. there's an embassy suites and hyatt place. decent food options at township which is close to both (sombra, soulshine pizza). you are also close to renaissance which has mint, ruth's chris. revolution is opening there in a few months.
the north end of highland colony has a hilton garden inn (madison) which is walking distance to local 463 (fantastic food), bonefish, and georgia blue.
there are cool restaurants and bars in fondren but no hotels within walking distance. cabot lodge is next to millsaps but would still require driving. fondren public, babalu, walkers, and pig and pint are in this area.

Hi Milo,
I would recommend staying at either the King Edward Hilton downtown or the Hyatt Place at Renaissance.
Downtown is active during the day but pretty quiet at night. I work downtown and feel safe enough to walk around everywhere for lunch. My favorites are:
Steve's
Adobo
Elite
Lurney D's foodtruck
Parlor Market
Wasabi
Here's a link to everything downtown as far as food n drink goes: LINK
Hyatt place at Renaissance at Colony Park has food and shopping options in a walking distance
They have:
Ruth's
Five guys
MINT
biaggi
Another broken egg
PF changs
Sweet peppers
Here's a link
LINK
However, if you think you would be actually staying here for like 6+ months, you could look at getting an apt at Fondren Corner. It's the place to be for single people.
