Looking at buying some land to build a house.
In Baton Rouge metro area, what would you consider to be a good deal price per acre?

We were very interested in this property, but the Base Flood Elevation is 8.8'

Are you gonna build in that little clearing, looks tight

We were interested in buying the property... It's zoned as Flood Zone AE, but I'm not building my house 8+ feet off the ground..

Well that just means you'd literally live anywhere that's not a city.

That was me... Obviously it's a generalization as there are some properties that aren't outrageous... I just want to know what a fair price per acre is

Unfortunately that is a "fair" price because there's no open land left currently. The only open land is huge acreage owned by families that, as the elders die, will end up selling to developers for subdivsions as opposed to individuals

Not in BR area and not trying to hijack but an acre if land in northeast Tarrant county here in DFW is clocking in at 200k an acre.
Posted on 7/5/14 at 9:14 pm to North Texas Tiger
Who the frick would buy that?
Posted on 7/5/14 at 9:16 pm to geauxcats10
200K an acre? Is it undeveloped land or is there a home on it?

Base flood is where your slab would have to be right? What's the elevation of the land?
