Just curious what you guys/gals prefer - what your fathers preferred and what were some of the stereotypes you heard growing up of each.
Mine -
Ford (dad's preference) - good working truck & gets the job done
Chevy (step-dad's preference) - luxury pick-up and makes the best V8
Ram (maternal grandfather's preference) - bad transmissions & STAY AWAY

My dad and grandpa had chevys but the Fords are better now IMO. I'd never drive a dodge or any other chrysler product again.

My Dad is a GMC guy (He had Chevy's back in the 70's/80's)
I currently own a Dodge Ram, mainly because it was a cheap work truck I picked up years ago. Stay away. Dodge's suck. We also own a couple of Ford vehicles. I've owned Oldsmobiles, Toyotas, Jeeps, Pontiacs, and Fords. I really don't have too many complaints about the Jeep products (I realize they are Chrysler owned) but I've never had anything go wrong with any Ford I have owned. All future vehicles will be a Ford including the next truck I buy which will be an F150. I won't even look at another manufacturer anymore.

As far as typical stereotypes/reputations go, those are fairly accurate.

FORD -work truck that doesn't stop
CHEVY - most comfortable ride on a Saturday night
DODGE - couldn't afford a FORD or CHEVY

that's about what I grew up with.
I always liked the rams but the 46re transmission was a piece of shite.

I like the new(er) Ram, but seems like they try so hard to compete with Ford & Chevy.
I think the pickups these days are the best they've been in 20 plus years in terms of quality and that includes Ram.

They don't make pickup trucks anymore. Just hybrid SUV's with a short bed. $45,000 for a truck is un-American
