Quick clip. You can hear them in the background over the crickets. Wasn't really set up to record, they look like they're done for the night. Will try to catch better video tomorrow night.

Yea we went to a concert earlier and I could see them circling for a while just didn't expect to hear them dropping and firing rounds at night.

We stay there most Summers. Headed out Saturday as a matter of fact. We always hear explosions and stuff from Eglin. Just figured it was "Army training" as usual.

Was driving back from central Florida this past weekend and when passing the area where I had seen signs for Eglin AFB (I think it was around Pensacola) watched some type of large grayish transport plane make 5 or 6 runs of taking off headed north, making a big turn, then coming in for landing back across the interstate headed south. I have no idea what I'm talking about so maybe someone can inform me, but I would believe it was what would be considered touch n go?? Curious to figure out what type of transport it was

This happens like 3 times a week. I used to be stationed at Hurbie.

Spectre gunships out of Hurlburt and they don't "drop bombs" they shoot cannons. Super cool AFSOC planes. Look them up on the web. I guess they have a training target out there someplace to shoot at. FYI, the planes generally only fly at night as they circle targets slowly and can be vulnerable in the day.

I stayed for a month in Navarre Beach and I would hear them a few times in the afternoon and that was so bad arse to watch them circle and let loose

Every morning during ski season in Jackson Hole, they shoot Howitzers at the mountain to break up avalanches. Pretty damn awesome alarm clock.

I've always wanted to be down there and see it.

Wish I could have been there for the MOAB testing

The long stretch of undeveloped land between Crestview and Niceville is Hurlburt Field, an Air Force bombing/training range. The 5 mile stretch of undeveloped prime beach land between Fort Walton and Destin remains undeveloped so Eglin AFB can have an unobstructed radar view over the Gulf. If you hear anything that sounds like a tiger roar, it is a Warthog shooting off its cannons. Lots of Air Force training activity is done in that area of Florida.

Don't know if it's still there, but back in the 90's Eglin use to have a huge missile range and pretty much in the middle of it was a tank range that we used (I fired my last tank table VIII there). Not far from the tank range was Ranger school.

I remember every night we were there you could see the AC-130's doing live fire exercises off in the distance. And one day they made us pull all our tanks behind some road while they test fired a missile. We sat there for hours watching to see this cruise missile come over but we never did see it or even hear it. instead we just sat there until they finally gave the all clear and we went back to the tank range.
