I bought a trailer from my coon-arse friend Nick the other day (5x9' not house trailer, though he lives in one), and he was asking me to make his truck smoke.

This was something I have never heard of before. I had put a power programmer on his last diesel. But the is a Ford Powerstroke 7.3, mid 90's. One of the pinnacles of diesel engineering. To me making the truck purposely spit smoke would be a travesty. But he was telling me of diesel additives, oil injection and and larger fuel injectors. Just so he could make it spit black smoke when you mash the gas.

I saw Takei just linked this story, so I guess the greenies will get on it soon.
I think it's stupid, personally.

Is it correct to assume these guys have no intention or requirement to pass an emissions test?

Black smoke means Unburnt fuel. Larger injectors would put out a plume until it started burning and then it would haul arse. Some of the trucks you see do it for show and others just have a badass truck.

That cant be good for the injectors or just the general health of the motor.

All the picture needs is someone throwing old fast food sacks out the truck window.

I would assume there are laws against that. There should be if there isn't a law.

I had never even heard of it. I saw a f350 do it on the I10 before and I figured he just had his power programmer turned up.

I never heard of people modifying sensors and injectors to do this.
Seems to be popular among the youngsters inheriting last generations f250's and heavy duty trucks.

Also pretty sure your buddies truck is a 7.3. 6.5 was a Chevy.
