Hi mbapilot,

The only course that I know of that is still group-based is MADM 760 with Meeks. If you take it with Heller, you don't have the group issues to deal with, but you will need to write a lot. I was banging out 7-14 pages each week with Heller. He was a good prof. though.

I usually spend 20 hours/week for each class. I have spent over 40 hours a week periodically for some classes (e.g., MKT701 and FIN710) but I don't have a business background and I am a slow chimp.

You are taking on a lot by taking MBA classes along with your work schedule. I did exactly what you are planning to do for around a year and then got tired and started to take a lot of time off of work to finish up my MBA.

Good Luck!

I just finished my exams for the week, so now it is time for a glass of Perseverance(Lodi Zin :-) )!

----------------------------------------------------------------
Out of the 7 core courses, does each course require weekly group assignments or just a very few of them?

I work 65-70 hours weekly, and some outside hours escalations/emergencies too. I will try to take the more group-intensive courses around vacation/holiday season. I will appreciate if someone can identify which courses were more group-focused.

I just saw that Hsieh has made the course material available for FIN710 which actually is Summer AP2. I'm halfway decent at math. However, just looking at the reading material he provides for FIN710 has me a bit freaked out. Especially with ISDS 702 at the same time.

What was your experience with this class and the difficulty of the actual exams?

The first two-three exams were hard and long. The last exam that covers options was easy.

The class might be easier now than when I took it. We had 150+ pages of class notes and a thick finance book that was required at the time. If you focus on his notes, create spreadsheets to cover every possible calculation in the homework, and think about how he might make the problems harder, or how he might combine the problems you will be fine. Make sure you can work the problems fast.

I ended up with over 97% in the class, but only 30% of the class passed. It was hard, but I am glad that I took the class and I learned a lot.

Just glad to be done with this week. Agree Exam 4 wasn't too bad. Thought was a bit more difficult then first 3 only having Sat/Sun to cram with the project due. Just anxiously await a passing grade on Project 1.

Nothing will compare to MADM715

3 More Weeks

@Jeaux how's MADM 725 format? Need one more elective for Fall AP2 since MKT705 professor changed for Fall AP1 and I don't want to chance it. How's it going? Pairable in your opinion?

It's been enjoyable so far. The professor is struggling a bit with this being the first time he's taught using Moodle. My only complaints are just little things like Modules not opening when they're supposed to, ungraded assignments, etc. The material is interesting imo. I definitely think you could pair the course with something else.

That was one thing that I was wondering about. There was a lot of emphasis on getting and using a business calculator in the syllabus. So, instead of that, we can just use Excel and pre-build all sorts of useful formulas? That will help massively.

Hi Marek,

When I took it, we could use either a calculator or excel. I don't know it that still applies though. Using spreadsheets was great help for me.

my grade is up, based on what I got doing more than the minimum is not warranted. Makes part 2 seem a little more manageable.

Guys:
I cant spare more than 20 hours/week for MBA studies. Need Help.

Do you recommend I should be fine if I plan this:

1) Fall '18 AP1:
ACCT 701 via Ambrosio. If Ambrosio is not available, is McGee recommended too?

2) Fall '18 AP2: (Pairing)
ISDS 705: Lin with Econ 705 via Shaunessy.
Considering I cant invest more than 20/hours per week. You think one can handle ECON too with ISDS705?

3) Spring AP1:
MADM 701 with Meeks. Is Meeks better than Knotts? Who is easier for a better grade?

4) Spring Ap2:
MADM 760 with Meeks. Is Meeks better than Knotts? Who is easier for a better grade?

I don't want to think too far ahead. Just want to set achievable, short-term goals. I will appreciate the feedback.

Last question: Around what time will the Fall classes start showing up? Is there any specific date for opening of registration?

You sure ask a lot of questions..

1. Ambrosio was fairly simple. I was in his first course to teach so there were some bumps along the way, but I still recommend him. Took him and made an A in the course. I know nothing of McGee.

2. ISDS 705 and Econ should be doable. ISDS is like not taking a course at all, or was when I took it with Lin. Three open note exams and that's it. I struggled a bit with Econ, but managed a B. Shaughnessy is a great professor. He is more than willing to help if you ask. Econ will take up the majority of your time between these two courses.

3. If MADM 701 is offered with Meeks, take it. I have never seen him listed as teaching it. Only Knotts and Williams. If down to those two, go with Knotts. That's who I took and it was tolerable. Academic coaches will do the majority of the grading outside of the exams. A decent amount of writing so be ready for that.

4. Take MADM 760 with Meeks. I don't think Knotts teaches it. He is imo, one of, if not the best professor in the program. This was one of my favorite courses. I took it as my first course and feel like it prepared me for the rest of the courses in the program.

Fall classes have been open for registration for quite some time.

Just checked, ECON 705 with Shaughnessy is already full. What do you all suggest now? I want something to pair with ISDS 705 (Lin.) I dont want to take Mary White for ECON 705. Can you recommend any other course? I am undecided for my specialization. Right now, more focused towards earning courses than worrying about specialization.

Is there a way to see what all will be offered next whole year? I see MADM 701, ACCT 701, MKT 701, FIN 701 all being offered in AP1 only. I am trying to make sense, which one should i target for AP1. I was shooting for ACCT 701 to lay a solid foundation for all future programs. But I dont even know if only take ACCT 701, then who knows when do i see the missed courses again. I want to take tough courses like MKT 701, FIN 701 etc individually (no pairing.) How did you all plan your courses? There has to be a calendar for next year too. Right?

If you have Moodle access, check under MBA Resource Center and look for the course carousel sheet. If not, you're going to have to wait until you do.

Anyone here have MADM752 with Knotts?? She hasn't updated the Family Business Profile Part C submission confirmations or graded the Part B submissions that were due on the 27th of May.

And it seems like everyones MKT701 Project Part 1 is graded except for mine.

I want my grades! I need my grades!
