Is anyone here planning to take 2-3 years to complete the program? I am paying out of pocket on a very tight budget and I refuse to take out any loans. Do you guys/girls think its ok to do like 3 classes per year? This was literally the cheapest option I could find and it has the AACSB. Most schools want 1000 per credit. Its ridiculous. It's like they want you to go into debt. Are there any potential negatives to this way of doing it?

Here's the best advice I can give you. Work the practice problems in Excel and set them up using formulas. This will make the calculations much easier to deal with and save you some time since you can just plug the numbers in. As far as the non-math questions, the reading guide is your best friend. It's not going to be as bad as you're thinking. I didn't use Excel on Module 1 exam, but the others I did. If you have any questions, shoot me an email at username@yahoo.com.

I started the program in Fall AP2 '16, and am in my last session now. In that time:
* BADM prerequisite courses are no longer a requirement
* MADM 720 is no longer required
* ISDS 702 is no longer required and ISDS 705 took its place
* There are new concentrations
* The program moved from Cengage based courses to all internal courses.
* The program now heavily uses proctoring for tests/quizzes
* "Books" are now free, but the quality is not particularly good / resources are not polished
* You don't get to see what questions you get wrong on tests
Some of the changes are good, some I don't like, and some I'm neutral about.
* I don't mind Proctorio proctoring. It's easy, not particularly intrusive, and it does help ensure the quality of the program.
* The free book thing could use some more polishing. Some resources are actually quite good, but others are just a mess of handouts and difficult to wade through.
* The change from ISDS702 to ISDS705 grandfathered everyone already in the program, so you got to pick which one you wanted to take.
* The most frustrating change to me is actually dropping the BADM prerequisites. That was $1000+ out of my pocket and an extra course that's no longer required. The ACCT701 course practically duplicated the material in the BADM course, so it added insult to injury there.
I'm sure in the next 2-3 years there will be a similar list of changes. Some courses change almost every term as adjunct professors come and go, but others are a work in progress, and will most likely only get better.
One thing to realize with this program, it's very much self teaching/reading based. Unlike other programs, you don't get recorded lectures, and while some professors do record some things (Meeks for instance), it's the exception and not the rule with this program.

Anyone have any insight into Choi FIN 730? Its a lot of information for the closed book, proctored exam. I want to know what to focus on for the exam. I was going to read the text once, then focus on the ppt slides and problems. Hoping that is a good strategy.

@SkipDigs, for exams understand the concept from the slides and focus on the Problem set question and answers, my recollection is that most of the questions are from the problem set. this class wasn't that heavy provided you have done FIN701 already

So far, so good. For the case study, I basically organized in the same order of the grading rubric and got 100%.

Wow, many changes have occurred. I was actually wondering about the BADM prerequisites because I wanted to sign up for a high level accounting course and it said BADM *** was required. Good to know this no longer applies. Sorry you had to pay all that extra money though, ouch. I have noticed that this is a self learning program. I really do wish there were lectures/videos from the professors;however, as long as they do not raise tuition to the extreme, i'm fine with it. Thanks for the info!

Do you guys/girls think that I will be ok in ACCT701 if I just learn the weekly objectives without paying too much attention to her PowerPoint? I usually read the weekly objectives, then find info on each objective in the textbook and then supplement that with YouTube videos , accountingcouch.com etc.. I don't know, her PowerPoint confuses me.

you mean MKT 702?

I'm glad I dropped it when I did. It's disappointing that the course is more marketing than analytical, but I just didn't want to chance my last class on an unknown. I'm in MADM 725 and it's been interesting so far.

Would have liked having you in the class to bounce ideas off of. The biggest challenge on these assignments that I find, is just where to begin and what is the content expectation?
Being that this is my last session, there is no dropping now. Just have to grind out the next 6 weeks.
I paired MKT 701 with ISDS 702 and it was tough, but MADM 701 with ISDS 710 is significantly worse.

quote:This is probably my biggest complaint for the class so far. The course feels unfocused. Perhaps my own expections are to blame, but so far it seems like I signed up for a Calculus class and am now being asked to write papers on the history of Calculus.

I'm concerned the professor thinks I'm learning how to work Calculus problems (figuratively speaking) while reading these chapters and writing these papers and forum posts and that I'll eventually be expected to demonstrate this (missing) skill on the last Excel assignment and final, comprehenisve exam.

I know it's a new course and a new professor, but LSUS has got to get these things figured out. It seems like the new course's material is being made up week by week and that's not right imo. I have taken two new courses, one last term and am currently enrolled in one, and they aren't near as smoothly run as the required courses. For example, professor in my current course "forgot" to unlock out M1 quiz Friday at 8am and didn't realize it until Friday evening.
